For those wondering what "pillor" means: It is very likely that it is the word "pillory" which is: 1. a wooden framework with holes for the head and hands, in which an offender was imprisoned and exposed to public abuse 2. attack or ridicule publicly. It makes sense with the lyrics of the title track

"pillor" doesn't exist as a noun, though... so the list "Stone, Wind, Pillor" doesn't make much sense.

from OED.com: "pillor, v. = pillory, v. a. To put (a person) in a pillory; to punish by means of a pillory. Now hist. †b. In extended use: to constrict (a person) as though in a pillory. Obs. 2. trans. fig. To abuse, ridicule, or defame (a person or thing); to expose to public abuse or ridicule; to reproach. Etymology: Apparently a back-formation from pillory n., or perhaps < inflected forms of pillory v." => "pillory, n. 1. A device for punishment, usually consisting of a wooden framework mounted on a post, with holes or rings for trapping the head and hands, in which an offender was confined so as to be subjected to public ridicule, abuse, assault, etc.; punishment of this kind. Now hist. 2. fig. Public abuse, ridicule, or defamation; subjection to abuse, humiliation; a place in which a person or thing is subjected to abuse."

"wtf is 'pillor'? " Exactly what I was wondering. But other than that, I must say this is a beautifully crafted EP and I really like the artwork.

Message me for a 16 bit / 44 kHz vinyl rip of the Demonstration Archive and the Compendium Archive (both include this EP). All tracks are individually split with correct tags. I've uploaded the whole Agalloch discography on sendspace. Get at me.

Amazing EP. Too bad finding a physical copy is pretty much impossible. [2] Much of Agalloch's material is limited. :(

Pillor, it turns out, isn't in the free Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, where you just searched. However, it is available in our premium Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary. To see that definition in the Unabridged Dictionary, start your FREE trial now.
