Biografie

妖精帝國 (Yousei Teikoku, alternatively Yosei Teikoku and sometimes Das Feenreich, literally Fairy Empire) are a four member Japanese band. Part of Team Fairithm, the band previously consisted of just vocalist and lyricist Yui with guitarist and composer Takaha Tachibana. The band has since included bass player Nanami and drummer Relu to their line up.

The group have been active since 1996 and have done their rounds around the doujinshi/indies music circuit. Their earliest releases are very hard to find. They did however, gain exposure from 2005 onwards with the release of their album Stigma and have since gained popularity through the use of their music in various media.

It’s important to note that at it’s core - Yousei Teikoku’s sound is very German, gothic and industrial. Though not always (I’ll get back to that). Yousei Teikoku merges heavy guitars and fantastical story telling. Yui’s voice is not the typical growling associated with metal/hard rock, she carries an ethereal and siren-like quality as she flits gracefully through Tachibana’s compositions. So while you won’t expect Yui to be doing vocal flips and scales, it would be hard to imagine someone else doing as well in the same position.

空想メソロギヰ has some similarity with Minstrel's Heian ALIEN, doesn't it?

@Diclo55: No. That sounds like an issue with whatever you're playing PAX VESANIA with.

Uhm, Guys? does Jo (序) get skipped for you too? Always when i start listening to the album it gets skipped and astral dogma is the first song that gets played. If I set the album on repeat Jo gets played though.

I think that their new album is also their best. its obvious how much effort they put into each song, and especially into each song SOUNDING like an individual song.

v I find it the weakest of the album tbh but I've only gave Pax Vesania one good play. I'll change my mind soon.

the intro of Siege oder sterben reminds me of Oraka na no Ketsumatsu. But I really like Fairy Yui's voice here <3

Holy crap, this album came out of nowhere. Pretty good stuff. I wish they'd stray a bit from their choir chorus chanting though. Makes all their songs sound similar.

Indeed. This album actually surprised me, a known hater of their stagnant sound. They really went out of their way to try a bunch of different things. "missing" = best Yousei Teikoku song in AAAAGES. Suddenly, power metal and guitar solos.
