Hello, I'm Jack, my two top bands are the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pink Floyd. I play Bass in a band called Mwnt (Check out www.freewebs.com/mwnt It's still under construction though) I agree that the Bass isn't appreciated, when it really should be.
Limelight may be cool, but Bassists RULE!

Hey, I'm Dane, I've been interested in bass for ages, and bought my first one a couple of months back. Been playing guitar and bass on my guitar (yep...) since I was about 12, but I lost interest for several years, before Jaco showed me the light.

Bass is awesome. It's so different to other instruments, in a lot of ways. Anyway, yeah, I'm tired.

bass lines in reggae music must pulsating, vibrating. there is easy guitar melody, drums are very silent and slow, so bass in reggae is hardest to play.

  • uhm.... what about funk, dude?

Bob Marley - great man, the basslines are very cool, and he was a great song writer.

in funk bass is more freaky! slap and taping are funk standarts. In reggae bass is more "classic" than funky but funk lines are harder than reggae of course:) guitars also harder:D Sometimes i listen to funk but i know only George Clinton& and Parliament Funkadelic. Can you recommend me something "screenager" ?

Bob Marley - great man, the basslines are very cool, and he was a great song writer.

Bob is great but I like him much more with Wailers.

  • I'm Travis. My two favorite bands are Primus and Led Zeppelin. I bought a bass 2 months ago, and I suck at it (obviously). I like bass because of the sound and the way it holds songs together. What really bugs me is bassists who don't turn up their fucking amp. Odd that I like AC/DC, eh?

I agree with all that, but I haven't heard The Meters, and not a great deal of Tower of Power, though I do love what I've heard. But yeah, get your hands on some Bootsy, Fred Wesley, and to a lesser degree, Jaco, some James Brown... just search up Funk on wikipedia or something :D

I'm flemer. I've been playing for around 4 years. Primus is the best band ever in all eternity and will be forever more. Aside from that, I like all music except emo, punk, and mainstream rap. I'm from SF, the coolest place in the world.

Hey everyone, my name is Kim and I've been playing music in general since I can hardly remember and bass in particular for about 7 years. Early in my learning I was picking out alot of Erykah Badu, Jamiroquai (Zender-era) and the Meters. Fantastic funky and pure bass songs to practice and groove to. Somewhat later, when I had an urge to start slapping, the Neville Brothers ("Live on Planet Earth"-album) brought me to it. Currently, I'm very appreciative of Paul Jackson (of Herbie Hancock's "Headhunters"-enseble), Marcus Miller and of course, as always, Jaco. Today I play an inexpensive but remarkably well built Fenix 5-string jazz bass as well as a 4-string Fender acoustic. In my profile picture you might also spot two old friend of mine, a '77 Musicman Stingray and a Yamaha TRP-5, two wonderful basses that I unfortunately could not afford to keep... Take care! Feel free to drop me a line. Peace. Kim

    Hello,

My name is Borgþór Jónsson, I am 18 years of age and I come from Iceland. I started playing the bass when I was around 13 years of age but I started receiving lessons around the middle of 2006.

My third (main) bass is a MusicMan Stingray 5 with piezo pickups in the bridge (bought late in 2007).
My newest bass is a NS Design WAV4 EUB.

    My name is Matteo.
I'm 21, from Italy. I play in a hard rock band. I don't remember when I started playing lol, but it's been 4 years at least.
I've got a Cort B5, and my favourite bass players are John Myung, Billy Sheehan, and Steve Harris.

  • I'm Eddy From Italy and I play the bass since September 2007 and 2 months ago I started to play in a band where all are fans of RHCP so I was very lucky!!!!!!
I love the bass sound and how it is so important in a song
especially if it is funk and actually I love funk rock.
Flea is the best and Blood Sugar Sex Magik is the best funk rock album I've ever heard.

    Eddy
