You mean you want us to rate your music taste? Hmm. First I would say stop worrying about "taste", or what others think, and listen to what you want to listen to. Next I would say don't be afraid to listen to "mainstream" music, a lot of the groups in your profile seem to be a concerted effort to appeal to today's indie kids (and is that any better than being a corporate whore? not really). And older music too, you'll get into it eventually (but Joy Division, Pixies and Husker Du are very good starting points!)

If everyone just listens to the music they like, then taste is subjective and unique to each individual, so rating is just a value judgment on the individual. So if you wanted a rating by how much my individual taste matches up with the bands in your profile, I give your profile a 6.

ok, 8.5.
This may be a bit harsh as i like almost all the artists there. But the order could do with some tinkering, and get some culture into your diet, perhaps some Bjork and Tom Waits for starters. It's good to see a fair bit of post-rock there on your list, that's all the rage with me right now, but if you haven't already, go get some Tortoise and Mono, just to name a couple.
But all in all, good work, keep it up.
And whoever does me, disregard green day, i had to listen to it for a time before going to the gig (it was cheap and i liked them as a child), so i was up to speed with that dodgy new album the kids are ranting about. Wasn't worth the admission.

I like everything on your list, and while I don't like Hall & Oates very much, my dad loves them. Also, nice work on the Hum, I don't see them very often. The only drawback is that it could use a little more variety.

I'm just in post-rock/indie kind of stage right now. Last year I went through a stage of listening to all the good old bands. The Pixies are also one of my favorite bands(who I was lucky enough to go to a concert of theirs recently), but I don't listen to them much anymore. Staytuned, I really like a lot of your music, the only one I'd switch the order of is the White Stripes being up so high. I listened to them for about a year constantly and loved them but I'm just not into them much anymore, just my personal taste. 8.5/10

hoborg- 9.5/10. A lot of Interpol, that's good. All good stuff. Very impressive.

dthtvwls- 7.5/10. Sorry, but I'm not a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins. QOTSA, Wilco both good. Lots of deductions for Jimmy Eat World. Flaming Lips, Beatles, Beck, Echo and the Bunnymen all great. Mostly not bad.

It's seems like your pretty new to indie, and there a lots of poppy punk bands, but several great bands, too. From what you have on your list, I'd reccomend: Joy Division, Múm, Radiohead, Pavement, Built to Spill, Pixies, Talking Heads, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and The Arcade Fire.
