Hate iPods? Think there are much better mp3 players out there? Think they're overrated, overhyped and/or overpriced?

It is very annoying when people say things like "should I get an iPod or an mp3 player?". An iPod IS an mp3 player!
The iPod is very underfeatured and overpriced. For the same price you can get a player with a bigger hard drive, plays wma files, radio, OGG files, has a microphone and plays video. The only reason it is successful is because of huge advertising.
The main thing that the iPod has is good sound quality. But considering most people's mp3's are low quality, and even if they aren't by default the iPod automatically converts them to low quality 128kbps AAC files. If you're using an mp3 player, sound quality probably won't be very high on your list of priorities.
The reason Apple do the iPod is because no-one will buy their iMacs (no offense to mac fans).
We are sick of the "iPod revolution". There is nothing new about the iPod. It merely copied existing players from Creative etc. and cornered the market with extremely aggressive marketing.
Portable music players from Sony, Creative, iRiver etc. are all vastly superior to any iPod.
After denying that it was running a sweatshop that would be familiar to Charles Dickens, Apple's Ipod manufacturer, Foxconn has finally admitted that it broken Chinese labour laws. It was forcing its employees to work about 80 extra hours each month. In a land where labour rules are notoriously lax, this is disgusting. A team from Apple had investigated its operations and given it the thumbs up.
Apple apologized in October 2006 for shipping video iPods containing the virus RavMonE.exe, which made its way onto a number of the ubiquitous devices at a manufacturing plant. Units shipped after September 12, 2006 are affected.
Battery woes associated with early iPod models have landed Apple in the court room. A court conditionally approved a settlement in a class-action suit brought against the company by several consumers who claim their first-, second-, and third-generation iPod batteries did not live up to the company's representation.
Class-action lawsuits have also been launched by consumers against Apple claiming the iPod nano (or scratchpod, as it's come to be known) scratches too easily.
People buy the iPod because everone else does and/or because its the only player they know of. It is a trend that should not have happened. iPods are not cool, they merely showcase inability to make your own choices and do your own thing.
