KatieJane Garside

  • KatieJane Garside

I've been listening to Daisy Chainsaw and Queen Adreena alot, following a discussion with a friend of mine about KatieJane's voice and which he liked better (I'd like to hear anyone else's thoughts too, so post if feels like.)
So I've been looking around on last.fm, listening to her / her band's radio stations, and came across Ruby Throat.

Has anyone heard anything by Ruby Throat? Are they worth listening to and what are they like in comparison to KatieJane's previous bands?

  • I love QA, and most fans of them are fans of Ruby Throat too but I've not listened to them yet either. I get the impression it's quite a different project though. (Hi btw, didn't realise this was your group :) )

  • Heys :) Yeah I asked someone from your group about it, they said that they were a fan of Ruby Throat and to check out their myspace to listen. Haven't gotten around to going alllll the way to a different website (lots of clicking and typing involved, hard work right?)

I've been wondering if they sound at all similar to Queen Adreena or Daisy Chainsaw. That would be awesome <3

  • I love Ruby Throat. It's quite folky but gothic as well, dreamy and mad, and all acoustic [so forget crunchy riffs, you're more likely to hear a harp].
    Other KatieJane projects:
Lalleshwari- this is even more 'wolf girlish', and quite eclectic- it appears to be a one-off project
Corps Electriques- definitely a one-off, because the french composer who katie works with for this trippy, electronic experimental record died a year afterwards. [hector zazou has worked with bjork and others] extremely underrated!
Ghostdigital and Frostbite- both projects of Einar Orn [he sings in the sugarcubes, bjork's old band]
Stories on the Moon- this is made by a collective of miranda sex garden, medieval baebes members and garside sisters. there's a cover of 'in heaven' [eraser head!] and the whole thing is very gothic and ethereal

  • I've finally found somewhere that has Ruby Throat available to stream / listen to.
If anyone is interested it's on GrooveShark, just type in Ruby Throat <3
Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
