So I've been trying to watch all of the documentaries and whatnot related to veganism/animal rights/food, and after a whole slew of celebrities went vegan after seeing Forks Over Knives, I decided to watch it to see what was so persuasive about it. I only got maybe 1/2-2/3 through it, but it's all about plant-based diets and health, which sort of upset me.
Knowing that regardless of where you get your meat, you're responsible for the murder of an animal isn't enough to make someone cut the shit, seeing the conditions animals are kept in in 99% of farms isn't enough, and knowing that you're actively contributing to world hunger and global warming isn't enough, but knowing that you're killing yourself is?
Maybe I'm overreacting and I should just be happy more people are cutting animals out of their diets, but it just seems really selfish that these people can only do something good if it benefits them.
Has anyone else watched this? How did you feel about it?
