'Scuse me Hollywood but whut r u doin?

Hours after Warner Bros and Leo DiCaprio grabbed Akira, we have the lead casting courtesy of Ain't It Cool News.

If your first thought upon hearing that DiCaprio was producing was "I bet he stars in it, too," well, you would be right. DiCaprio will reportedly be playing the lead character, Kaneda.

Set to star opposite him as Tetsuo is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is well on his way to the A-List these days -- and will probably be the next a geek hero in the Christian Bale mold after G.I. Joe.

Anyone else heard about this? Are you shocked? Are you all in tears hugging your Akira DVD? Are you actually looking forward to it because DiCaprio is the sh*t? Can it become a disaster even worse than Dragon Ball or could it maybe turn out a decent movie, even for the fans of the anime? Discuss.

OHH NO!!! WTF america is destroying everything!!! :'(

  • I agree xD I'll just ignore the whole project... Except if there are great CG effects, then MAYBE MAYBE I will forgive Warner Bros. A post-nuke world isn't easy to make so I hope there will be heaps of money involved. Akira deserves it.
