Within just one year afmusic got off to a lightning start. The most innovative netlabel in Germany for darkwave, gothic and independent Music celebrates on the label founder Falk Merten's birthday their release-anniversary and distributes big presents to their fans - and that are 16 in number on this fiftieth publication.

All are on this Anniversary-Compilation "afmusic #50". Exactly one dozen of it are previously unreleased or recorded exclusively for this release. Beside many known afmusic-acts the sampler also presents an absolutely new band. Therefore, it is less a retrospective, than even more a look in the future of the label.

"afmusic #50" indicates not only the variety and versatility of the present releases, but also their high musical and artistic quality. LaTriste - the newest member of the label family - immediately deliver with her first song a potential hit single. Smoke Fish and Emerald Park contribute dark-coloured pop pearls of the grade 1A and Confusion Is Next are represented, just like light in your life with a dreadfully nice ballad. Thereby the music ranges from shoegaze to the sturdy alternative rock.

Spinefish, (((S))) and Art Noir provide for the dark sound-collage which hold together "afmusic #50" and lend a breathtaking atmosphere to the album.

In between the big potential of a lot of afmusic-bands flashes: The label-draught-horses all:my:faults cement with a never been there mixture of 8-bit Postmetal and spoken words their exceptional position as the most innovative German band of the scene. Stromble Fix's "Dispirited" is more progressively Hybrid from grunge and deathrock, "Enjoy" of REPTILE71 is more sombre than the legendary "Drowning one" and CAMP Z present a modern version of the Sisters Of Mercy.

Crowning end of the completely successful afmusic-show is the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" cover, which is the most stretching cover with wide distance of this decade.

From the 7th of August "afmusic #50" is ready to download for free on www.af-music.de. There you can listen to all present releases - free of charge and in full length - or download in high quality for convenient rates. A bookmark is worthwhile not only, but also because afmusic by now again not only have two strings to their bow.

Two years ago, when Shay, a young Israeli who was traveling the world, settled in the city of Brest, “because it’s the most rock’n’roll town in france”. And what is do to in a Rock’n'Roll city? Right, founding a band.

Smoke Fish are Shay (Guitar /Voice, Keyboards), Jonathan (Guitar, Keyboards), PY (Drums) and Jean Se (Bass). The quartet’s common influences, such as David Bowie, The Pixies, Pavement, Pulp or even Queen gave birth to a dynamic, genuine and high energy pop-rock.

Exploring a vast musical range, from acoustic ballads to more full-on rock material with slight touches of oriental and electronic vibrations, Smoke Fish toys with contrasts to put forth an intense, dream-like and gripping music that opens the doors of the listener’s imagination.

“Insane Inside” is the second single on the way to their first album and available under creative commons for free download. The world wide net-release will be published at afmusic on June, 29th 2009.

post punk meets post rock highlighting the field between shoegaze and Show – the swedes light in your life produce psychodelic pop pearls like bands such as Editors, Elefant und Eskobar and their debut is just as good.

They already raised attention a year ago releasing an EP under the name of Sleazy Romance. In sweden insiders celebrated this band as swedens answer to Interpol: the five guys from Uppsala manage the balancing act between melancholy and ease at least as impressive as the famous New Yorkers.

From the deep wave-roots of light in your life grows a strong stock of solid rock, entwined by psychodelic leaves. The treetop grows far beyond the dark wave spinney and gets enough sun to blossom into a bright pop sensation.

light in your lifes songs are drawn to the sun (”It would be fine”) or lurk in the dark (”Psych”). In the style of classicas singer-songwriters frontman Johann tells great stories of great emotions (”Song about love”) which his band captures with hypnotic riffs and dominant drums.

The debut of this aspiring new scandinavian songplant is released on the 19th of june on cd on Danse Macabre Records and as a worldwide Net-Release on afmusic. The pre-release single includes the hits “Smile that smile” and “Geldof”. These are already downloadable and you can still listen to the bands 2008 EP released under the name of Sleazy Romance.

Art Noir is a project of Jan Weber, the film composer and former member of Impressions of Winter. Succeeding the debut `Flügel` and a co-production with Carlos Perón, the new record, called `Silent Green´, opens up to a new musical dimension.

The opening song, called ‘Dark Temple’, evokes memories of masterpieces by Lustmord and Ah Cama Sotz. dark ambient-collages similar to Delerium and Raison D´etre (´Take the blue pill´) are lighted up by journeys into different worlds of sound. “Heavenly Voices” (’Silent Green’, ‘Brother of sleep’) and “Burlesque” (’Mental’) are only two examples for that.

Art Noir connects melancholic melodies to brute industrial sounds: the powerful and marching music meets the tender voice of Nadine Stelzer (former member of In Strict Confidence). Her vocals contrast with the music and give it a warm and comfortable note.

The record develops a unique atmosphere by connecting music and vocals in this way. It takes the listener to new, unknown places. Listening to this record is like watching a good film: Every time you replay it, you will discover new details.

With the debut of the quartet Notes From Underground, arrives at German record shops what is probably the hottest import from spain. Notes From Underground decorates perfectly conceived rock and metal with catchy electronics. Its as if CEVIN KEY (Skinny Puppy) or RHYS FULBER (Front Line Assembly) would have added exciting song-patchwork to rapid guitar riffs that will shake the legs of any KMFDM-fans.

Already the violent opener “Phoenix Uprising” indicates the direction of an album that has what it takes to give a new impulse to the Industrial-Metal scene. Songs like Game or Heaven in Hell have a distinctive stamp on them which most musical comrades of Madrid-based Notes From Underground can only dream of.

“Crossing The Rubicon” strikes a tension arch from trance to trash-metal without losing its target vigorous industrial rock. This exciting spagat connects the best genre-ingredients of all times and catapults the energy of early Nine Inch Nails into the present in a way no one else has in this millennium.

The album has already created a buzz within the relevant circles of the scene way before the release a full-house of genre-colleagues have loaded “Crossing the Rubicon” with a bunch of exciting alternative remixes: Die Krupps, Das Ich, Adrian White (Front Line Assembly, Silent Alarm), William Faith (faith & the muse), En Esch (former KMFDM, Pigface, Slick Idiot), Seb Komor (former Icon of Coil, Melt) and Ulf Häusgen (former The Fair Sex).

Thus reaches this double-album the 20-track mark putting Notes From Underground at the spearhead of todays dark-scene with one of the most extraordinary debuts of the last years.

Already one year ago light in your life pricked up the ears, at that time still under the name Sleazy Romance. In their native country the band then already was clebrated by insiders as Sweden’s answer to Interpol: post punk meets post rock on the zenith of the tension curve between shoegaze and Show - psychedelic pop pearls in the sphere of influence of Editors, Elephant and Eskobar.

The self-titled debut album will be released on CD at Danse Macabre and digital at afmusic.
