Tromsø IL is, as far as we know, the northernmost premier league club in the world, located some 500 km north of the Arctic Circle. Please visit http://www.til.no

Together with Rosenborg FC and Lillestrøm, Tromsø IL was the longest serving premier league club in Norway, maintaining its premier league status consistently since the promotion in 1985. It’s fair to say – against all odds. Unfortunately, we were relegated to the 1. Division after finishing 14th in the premiership 2001. However, we achieved re-promotion in the first attempt in 2002. Since then, we have been consequently back where we belong - in the Norwegian Premier League.
Tromsø IL has never won the league, but was runners-up in 1990 and finished third in 1989. The Norwegian cup has the same position in Norway as the FA Cup has in England. TIL has won the cup trophy twice – in 1986 and 1996.
On four occasions Tromsø IL has participated in European Cups – twice in the Cup Winners’ Cup (1987, 1997) and twice in the UEFA Cup (1991, 2005). In addition, we played the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1995, and in the Scandinavian Championship - "Royal League", in 2004/2005.
The club is well run with a healthy economy, mainly due to its ability to find, develop and sell valuable players. This priority paid off during the late 90's.
