Last movie you saw?

  • Prom 3/5

Made me regret never going to Prom (or any school dance for that matter) but it was a really cute movie. If I was younger and still in HS this would probably be one of my favorite movies. As I'm 26 I think it will stay a guilty pleasure movie that I deny that I've actually seen haha.

  • Andre 5/5

based on a true story of a family that raises a seal pup to grown up seal. very nice story. heart warming. not sappy! highly recommended.

  • Love Potion No. 9 (1992)
    6/10

The duo Sandra Bullock and Tate Donovan, romantic and naive). The script is too predictable, and therefore the film in the mood when you want to watch something light, funny and sentimental)

    Blow-Up (1966)
A seemingly quite bored and frustrated fashion photographer spends his time photographing pretty girls in his luxury apartment, while listening to music and drinking booze. He seems to take no pleasure from all of this though, and tries to flee from his boredom by searching for interesting motives to photograph. One day he discovers that he might have unwittingly photographed the scene of a murder in a park. He becomes obsessed by discovering what actually happened there, and by finding the only witness he knows of; the woman he was spying on. Might the killer be on to him though? Was there even a murder?

An enjoyable, thrilling, and at times almost dream-like film with a wonderful soundtrack by Herbie Hancock (and a live performance by The Yardbirds!) and a great performance by David Hemmings. I loved the way he kept getting closer to the truth by further developing his film and "blowing up" the photographs. But in the end they're just photographs. Are they the same as the truth?

I've read that the movie supposedly shocked the public quite a lot with its nudity, but it's not that much compared to today's standards (Shame, Dragon Tattoo etc). I think what's most shocking today is the character's almost misogynistic demeanor to the women he encounters in his work, and how they let themselves be treated so poorly by him.

(Coincidently, the movie I watched before this was Blood and Black Lace (1964), which also takes place in the fashion-world).

  • Fast Five 4/5

The Fast and Furious franchise is a guilty pleasure for me. The first one will always be my favorite just for nostalgic reasons but I think Fast Five is a close second. Actions, cars, hot guys and gorgeous girls. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours.

    People Will Talk 4/5

I've been in love with Cary Grant since I was a little girl but I had never seen or really heard of this movie. I imagine this movie was a big deal in it's time considering it's about a Doctor falling in love with and marrying and un-wed pregnant woman. It was a solid movie and Mr Grant was his usual suave self. Thumbs up!

  • ghost rider 5/5

  • The King's Speech

Today I saw The King's Speech in the cinema (it was a special screening). I had heard a lot about it so I was looking forward to it. I turned out to be a good movie with a lot great actors like Helena Bonham Carter, Timothy Spall, Geoffrey Rush, ...

    9/10

I like my coffee hot and strong. Just like I like my women, hot and strong. With a SPOON in them.

Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

  • Friends With Benefits 4/5

I had my doubts about this movie after seeing the horrible No Strings Attached but they were proven wrong. I really enjoyed this movie. True, it's not going to go down in history as one of the greatest movies ever but it was cute and funny and sexy. Mila Kunis was wonderful and surprisingly, Justin Timberlake didn't suck.

The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall 100/5 (hehe)

The specially recorded for theaters and DVD 25 anniversary show of The Phantom of the Opera. I've been in love with musical since I was a little girl but have never been able to see it live so this DVD was amazing to me. Everything was stunning, the performances, the costumes, the staging, the effects. Sure, they had to change a few things from the original show to make it work at the Royal Albert Hall but it was still wonderful. I am never watching the 2004 movie version again.

    Underworld Awakening

My expectations weren't very high - but what i got was kinda worse than everything expected. The whole movie felt like a series of shooter-cutscenes. No story at all. But thumbs-up for the action-scenes.

    1/5

The Woman in Black (2012, James Watkins)

Better than expected. An interesting tribute to classic horror films mixed with an oriental touch, but predictable.

    Good movie. 6/10

  • Tucker & Dale vs. Evil 4/5

Very funny riff on the cabin in the woods genre. Not really a parody like the the "Scary Movie" genre. Well done.
