Until we can *see* what everyone's listening to...

...you can lie and tell us what cool sh*t the NME says you should be listening to!

I'm really enjoying Friendly Fires at the minute. I stumbled across Jump In The Pool on iTunes, and I really liked it. But what really blew me away was their performance of Paris on Jools Holland. Wow! Not seen them live yet, but hoping to...

Also really into Aeroplane, after Comster mentioned them on the Doves board.

And did anyone get Pacific Ocean Blue, the Dennis Wilson album that was reissued last year? Fantastic! Really. I love the Beach Boys, and I think Brian Wilson's a genius, but I think this record is hands down my favourite solo Beach Boys release...

  • I'm So Un-Hip!

I liked the Grace Jones album, Hurricane; but I got bored of it soon. Same with Oracular Spectacular by MGMT - I love the singles when I hear them on the radio but listening to the album from start to finish is like eating a full jar of peanut butter in one go.

As for current singles, Spaceman by The Killers is good - well, it's catchy.

I like that Walking on a Dream song by Empire of the Sun too. It's very "A Flock of Seagulls".

I've been on a massive Judee Sill kick recently, but I've managed to ween myself off her. If you're unfamiliar with her, imagine the voice of Karen Carpenter with the poetry of Joni Mitchell and the drug habit of Amy Winehouse. She had such a sad and fascinating short life. Listen to The Kiss if nothing else.

  • p.s.

If you like Beach Boys-esque harmonies and unabashed psychedelia, try Comfy In Nautica by Panda Bear. It's trip-tastic!

saw MGMT with radiohead last year and they were better. likin the airborne toxic event and old mansun on vinyl at the mo. oh and bowie

  • Abit old school right now. Currently listening to a ton of the C86 period stuff. One Thousand Violins especially.

As for more upto date stuff.. I'm enjoying Aarktica's 'Matchless Years'. Also enjoying Marsheaux - the best synth pop group around.

Loving the new Morrissey & U2 records also.

Earlier today: Okkervil River's "Black Sheep Boy" and Tom McRae's self-titled album. I also may or may hot have acquired a leak of The Veils' new album, which may or may not have been pretty darn good.

Right now: kent's "Hagnesta Hill" (Swedish version)

I've barely listened to anything this week :( I've gone from 38 Artists/417 tracks/528 total plays last week to like 25 songs or something this week haha!

I've banished myself from listening to anything as I've fallen very, *very* behind with three essays and music only distracts me...I should probably switch it off again in a minute :(

When is Lily Slaymaker bringing her album out, then?

I have mostly been listening to Spotify and discovering that I don't need to spend money on The Killers', Lily Allen's or Lady Gaga's albums because they're not that good.

Mostly old stuff round our way. Adam Leonard, Magazine, Doves, randomness while we choose songs for the wedding, etc, etc, etc.
