Team up with our members here to make your Personal Tags into Global Tags.
Through cooperation, we can bring back the music.
On November 17th, all of the Personalized Radios on Last.fm were disabled. Including:
Loved Tracks Radio
Personal Tag Radio
and any and all user Playlists.
Some of us have put an awful lot of work into our personalized radios. We have spent hours tagging tracks and selecting the right combination of tracks for our theme playlists.
To save them, we have a few options.
- You can use the Last.fm Extension in the Chrome browser, which will play almost any song on Last.fm
- You can create a new account for a single radio, adding only songs that you want for a particular playlist
- You can convert a Personal Tag into a Global Tag, with multi-user tagging.
This group can facilitate the third method, and offer advice on the first two.
For a tag to become a Global Tag, it must be used by several users on an undetermined number of individual songs. (Probably at least 30).As a group, we can work together to turn Personal Tags into Global Tags.

We have come up with a process that works (see the list of successfully globalized tags further down). It involves tagging, and getting other users to replicate your tags. Here's what you need to do:
Use one of these tools to change/add many tags at once. I recommend the second choice, but all three of them work.
http://www.last.fm/group/The+Last.fm+Mass+Tagger
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/32963
http://www.easyclasspage.de/lastfm/seite-13.html
You will need Firefox for the second option - add the Greasemonkey addon if you don't have it yet, and install the script. After that it's very easy to tag a whole lot of tracks at once!
FIRST
-Change your personal tags to something more specific, probably involving your username. (such as, "lizvelrene postpunk")
- OR Add tags to your Playlist, maybe using the title of the playlist if it's specific enough.
-OR Add tags to your Loved tracks, with your username (or whatever specific designation you want)
- Double check that the tag is not already in use.
You can do this by entering into the address bar: "http://www.last.fm/tag/YOURTAGHERE"

THEN
- Tell us about your tagging project in the Shoutbox below.
- Include a link to the playlist/tag/loved radio list, and let us know what the new tag should be.
- We will add your project to the Project List.
-Return the favor by tagging the other projects on the list.
I will list all tags needing rescue up here, and you can help out by tagging them.
Together, we can keep the music going!

Project List:

Don't be shy - if you want to make your loved radio, tag radio, or playlist playable again, just drop a link in the shoutbox and let us know what to call the tag. If you are confused about what to do, send me a private message or ask in the shoutbox. We'll help you figure it out.
There is a lag between the tagging process and when your tag radio will be ready to play. It generally takes 1-2 weeks for a radio link to appear on the tag page, making the tag officially "verified". But some tag radios will be playable in the Last.fm software right away. Give it a day or two and then see if your new tag will play for you!
Tag Check! Unverified:

beboppin

For the complete list of verified tags (over 300 so far!) see this thread -- http://www.last.fm/group/Tag+Rescue+Project/forum/211304/_/660296
There are several other suggestions for getting your radios going again -- read the Discussion board and some of the linked journals for some good ideas. One very good idea involves the use of alternate accounts. The directions for this are here: http://www.last.fm/group/Tag+Rescue+Project/forum/211304/_/655522
Important Reminder - please remember to tag all of the tracks yourself. When other people tag a long list they may not be able to get through the whole thing using their software. This will still globalize the tag itself, but it will leave some of your songs untagged. If a song doesn't get tagged at least once, it won't be part of the new radio. So please don't forget to do your own tagging, to make sure your chosen tracks will get globalized!
