A group for those who appreciate Sounds, and are willing to go well out of their way to appreciate them

Do you have taste? This is a group for those that do. We appreciate Sounds, which are numbers encoded on a medium decoded by a machine and reproduced by a magnetic coil and a cone. Beyond that, the requisites are limited, to join this group you must:

1. Have at least five different genres in your top twenty artists. Subgenres do not count.
2. Posses charts which evidence your passion for seeking out music not conveniently presented to you.
3. Hold no prejudice against any form of music, or its listeners, because Taste is subjective.

Only apply if you feel you have fulfilled these criteria. If you are denied, do not simply apply again, because you will be denied again. However, feel free to shout the leader and ask why, if you feel you were wrongfully rejected. If you make a succesful appeal, you may apply again.

    Like meeeee! Yeah, babs was saying exactly that. I would NOT ask me for advice about, say, Jazz, because I only really know a few artists. Then again, there are genres I know tons about, so I suppose it balances out. I spread myself too thin, trying to learn about every genre at once instead of focusing on one untill I know it really well and then moving on. I think this slows down my learning in specific genres, but I'll fucking get there.

    @alvareo: Um, I don't think Babs said anything of the sort that you are suggesting. We were discussing how I'd rather get a recommendation about a genre from someone heavily dedicated to that genre than from a casual genre scraper.

    I *don't* agree with Babs. Yeah, take that. I prefer to know a lot about different genres than a lot about *one*genre. Besides, if you only listen to one, you can't enjoy different places you go or probable shows because you're a musically close-minded guy.

    I love my music evolution, I'm not touching a thing. Alright, I might delete the odd offensive track here and there (that X button is so damn convenient now!) but otherwise, the rule is: once it's in, it's in. And in any case, I wasn't born yesterday, I was listening to music before I joined Last.fm. It's not indicative of me that much. It's just indicative of the time I've spent here.

    Then that's other people's problem for being lazy. :) Yeah, I get tired of seeing the same artists at the top of my overall charts, but this is why I use the 7 day chart and the 3-month chart for my library. We need more discussion topics. :(

    You are right, but many people look only at the overall charts, I generally do, unless they have like 7000 plays for their top artist. I cant talk, I reseted my charts recently, although it was entirely on a whim. I was just sick of the sight of the same damn top artists all the time.
