    Rules?

I joined long time ago and I haven't looked here for a long time. For me, it's true to say that the rules, Those big letters, just made me sick when my eyes caught them. I think that today I would hardly join this group after seeing such completely unpretty and inhospitable inscription. Can't you just put some nice photos (CD covers or movie snapshots)? The today's form of the group's frontpage is totally disgusting. You can put these rules somewhere else...

    Thanks
    Jacob

  • Please, try to gather at least someone else who share your opinion... and I'll see what I can do about it. I don't think it's disgusting at all, tastes differ :) I purposedly haven't put any pictures on the greeting page, lest I'd bias someone - except for one avatar, which is of course from a movie I adore. When making this group, I couldn't think of any other pictures but this one.

  • On the other hand, I don't like the idea of joining or leaving a group judging by their greeting page. For me, that's not important at all. The idea was to deter people who don't belong here. I don't like to expand this group beyond measure, like other groups for soundtrack fans, I want to be among people sharing more or less the same mindset as me. When I say no Coldplay, no Radiohead, I have a reason. I could say other bands as well, but these two are the most blatant examples of that kind of musical ideology I want to steer clear of. Previously, I had ~ 10-15 applicants a day - now I have the same number, but for a week's span, which suits me completely. Of these people, I grant membership for 2-3 people on average tops. The others, may they have read the rules or not, stay out. I still can't say, why RH or CP fans persist in their attempts of joining this group after the admonition, but they won't get in nonetheless. I'd say, that welcome page does its job rather well, filtering out unwanted users, who would only dilute our charts.
Once again, this group is for those who are really, wholeheartedly into soundtracks.
Like me, like you and those other 300 fellow soundtrekkers.
I can only hope, you will see my point.

This question about the "disgusting" nature of the greeting page should be decided by a poll, democratically. First, please convince me, there are others who feel the same, then I'll start a poll.
