    ScrobblePod 0.7.3

    Hi everyone! :)

0.7.3 is available (1 MB). The new version improves the stability of ScrobblePod. I've fixed a few crashes, and significantly reduced logging.

If you encounter any issues, please send the details to scrobblepod@mmrr.fi.

    Hi

Nice app. So far it seems to work fine when scrobbling directly from iTunes.

    The caveats I've found:

    - About Scrobblepod in the menu does nothing
    - "Scrobbling now from Scrobblepod" on the Last.fm user page links to the now defunct scrobblepod.com

I don't have an iPod, so I can't test that.

    Hi Tarmas,

Thanks! I'm not sure why the About ScrobblePod menu doesn't work for you. Maybe the dialog is hidden behind other windows? I'll look into that.

"About Scrobblepod Menu" works fine here.

what do you mean by "Restores the ability to tag and share songs"?

"Restores the ability to tag and share songs" is a mistake, sorry about that. I introduced some changes after 0.6.3 that were, fortunately, never released (the changes caused the problems with tag and share dialogs) :)

Great work! Very nice surprise to find a little new development on what was, even after being abandonware for a while, the best and simplest mac scrobbler. And now it really does scrobble each play too!
I had the impression that auto scrobbling was already a feature 0.6.3 - I never had to "scrobble now" with the "interval" set at 0.

  • Hey sotkov! I've got a slight problem - I listened to 'A Small Victory' sometime this morning, and it's registered as having been played 93 times. The Soul Coughing stats on my profile are also incorrect. Now that I think about it, I don't think I finished either song...'A Small Victory' might have been paused, and then I switched playlists. 'Houston' was in mid-song on my iPod 5th gen when I synced.

I submitted my stats manually, perhaps that's the problem? I have three devices, so I prefer to keep ScrobblePod turned off, and I sync manually every few days (or when I'm going to reboot, since previously ScrobblePod would send stats upon launching).

Thanks for everything, sorry to be a hassle!

    Hi particleray,

Please send me the log messages from that morning (they can be found in Console.app by searching for 'ScrobblePod' in 'Console Messages'). This should provide some insight into what happened.

  • Update: it was something weird I'm doing (changing play counts via AppleScript). Nothing to see here!

  • Good work sotkov! Thank you for your hard work.

I have a feature request if it isn't too hard to implement: Under "Share this song", would it be possible to social media options, such as tweeting the song that's currently playing, sharing on Facebook, etc.?
I just think this would give the app an edge and attract more users, along with it being so easy to use, lightweight and all.

Has something changed in this version with Growl notifications? Previous version gave comforting little growl pop ups about how many songs were scrobbled and that songs played in itunes would now be scrobbled, etc. Now... notifications (and I've changed no settings). It still scrobbles of course, can see on last.fm page... just not interactive during the process.

OK, well that was weird, seems to be Growling again. Dunno what I was doing there.

    This is Great

Amazing - I made my annual check for a replacement for the crashy/CPU looping iScrobbler and found ScrobblePod. Scrobbling iPod plays is the most important thing for me and this works well as does Growl.

    Well done, love it!

  • I attempted to upgrade from .53 to .7.1 and could not get scrobbles to post.

Downgrade to .53 and posting restarted without issue.

    I'm running OS X 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.2.2.

    Still working well but...

ScrobblerPod disappears occasionally, about once a week, so I have to restart it. I do this with an iPod connected so it catches up on scrobbles.

Great, that the development is picking up. Just tried it out and it works great.

Can we get a "Start with iTunes" option like the official client?

  • "Use 'Album Artist' where possible" seems to broken in this update.

  • I attempted to update to 0.7.1 today. This time I completely removed .53 from my computer. After setting it up it works perfectly. Must have been some old pieces of .53 that kept the new version from working.

    Currently using...

    iTunes 10.3.1
    Scrobblepod 0.7.1
    OS X 10.7.0

    These files happen to be:
    /Applications/ScrobblePod.app
    ~/Library/Application Support/Growl/Tickets/ScrobblePod.growlTicket
    ~/Library/Application Support/ScrobblePod
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.bengummer.ScrobblePod.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.bengummer.ScrobblePod.plist.lockfile

For some reason, it was working ok on Lion for a while, but now it just crashes on startup.

EDIT: it was probably because of the Last.fm downtime, though ti didn't really give any indication that it couldn't connect to the server.

I've noticed the same thing - I check my Last FM page and notice nothing has been added and look to the menu bar and scrobblepod is not running!

However as soon as it's restarted it scrobbles everything that has played even though it wasn't running... Not sure how it does that be I feel I like it!

    Is not working anymore

For me under mac OS X LION ScrobblePod (in all Versions) is not working anymore. I mean the app woks and last.fm shows me the actuelle plying song. So far so good.

But the Problem is, that last.fm is not saving my songs when I'm scrobbling with ScrobblePod. The official Last.fm Scrobble App is working and saves my songs.

    Whre's the fault?

    No, it's working!

    Yeah!
It's working again and it was my fault. With the Update to LION I put my iTunes Library to an external harddrive, so ScrobblePod could not find the iTunes xml.

I fixed the path and now it's working again. :-)

    "Share Song" not working

Thanks so much for the update! Everything looks awesome, except one little thing... when I click "Share Song," the app always crashes.
