iPod scrobbling?

I have a first gen iPod touch with 3.3.1 installed. I also have a 4th gen iPod, and a 120gig 6th gen iPod. I have a macbook pro with OSX 10.6.1 and iTunes 9.0.1. I haven't seemed to be able to get iPod scrobbling working with official client, iScrobbler or now Scrobblepod. The official client won't even scrobble iTunes. Both iScrobbler and Scrobblepod will scrobble songs played in iTunes. None will scrobble any iPods that I have. Anyone know why this is? Scrobblepod appears to be the software i'd like to use ongoing. Now it just needs to work :)

PS: Kind of ironic considering the name of the software :)

Further testing has shown the following to be the case:

1) Scrobblepod has no problem scrobbling songs played in iTunes.
2) Scrobblepod has no problem scrobbling songs played on my 120g 6th gen iPod classic.
3) Scrobblepod will not scrobble songs played on my 4th gen iPod photo.
4) Scrobblepod will not scrobble songs played on my 1st gen iPod touch.

Ok - this doesn't make much sense - tonight I plug in my iPod Touch - it copies some songs AND scrobbles the songs played earlier :)
