Snow Leopard support?

  • Snow Leopard support?

I'm running ScrobblePod on Snow Leopard 10A389, and am hitting a pretty bad crasher (stack smasher; looks like sending a message to a released and freed block of memory): happens when the Last.fm auth callback is trying to be handled.

I've forked your repo at http://github.com/cbowns/scrobblepod/tree/master, but had to make a few changes to get it to even build on 10.6. Do you have access to a SL seed? If not, I'd love to help get this patched up and working on SL before the September release.

    So?

This is important, why isn't anyone paying attention?
C'mon, an app is not supposed to be unusable in new versions of the OS...

    pls

I'm also interested in a SL beta version testing or sumthing...
    This is sad.

You stand in line completely still,
    Feel really, truly unfulfilled,
    Week in week out.
  • I would also like scrobblepod support in Snow. Are there any alternatives to getting iPod to scrobble in Snow? Even my coversutra is a bit broken but works, just doesn't scrobble ipod. If it did then I'd be set.

    10.6 Test Version

    Hi everyone,
Sorry it's taken so long to look at this.

I don't have access to 10.6 yet, but I have built a test version which hopefully fixes some of the problems.

    It's available at http://scrobblepod.com/test_builds/ScrobblePod.conlan.zip
Because I don't have 10.6, the test build may not work at all.

@sotkov: If you could email/message me your patches, I can incorporate them into ScrobblePod for an official build.

    10.6. Test Version on Non-Snow-Leopard

Because ScrobblePod stopped scrobbling I reset it's date and tried it with the conlan release; And it worked. I keep an eye on it. Thanks, Moritz -- Moritz Zimmer -- Konzept & Code -- omo@oio.ch -- www.oio.ch --

I'm finding the test build posted doesn't crash and will submit if you manually tell it to, but when i plug in my iPhone nothing happens. Not the end of the world, but it doesn't seem to be working 100% yet.

Are you using an iPhone or an iPod? iPhones don't seem to trigger auto scrobbling (I can, however, select the 'scrobble now' button and it works then).

I'll add to the chorus - Sotkov's build works on my Macbook with Snow Leopard.

Wow. I'm honored to have the test build named after me. It sounds like there's still some iPhone problems with it though. Any word on getting an official release, maybe incorporating Sotkov's work?

  • thanks Sotkov! you the man.

Are both these builds broken on 10.6.1 for anyone else?

My build works fine for me on 10.6.1. What kind of problem do you have?

Is anyone else using an iPhone with .53 and OS 10.6.1? Doesn't seem like scrobblepod automatically scrobbles when the iPhone is plugged in anymore.

  • i am experiencing the same problem as reported by daniel (using .53, os 10.6.1 and an iPhone 3G). manually hitting the scrobble now button seems to work though ...

I'm still able to manually scrobble, which I just do after I plug my iPhone in. Not ideal, but certainly not a dealbreaker either.

I put it up at http://www.jetshred.com/downloads/2010/ScrobblePod.zip if anyone wants to download it

  • Here's Ben's page for the source - 0.53 was the last one released, it's up there. Works with Mac OS X 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 (the latest as of now). I'm manually scrobbling, so I can't vouch for all features.

    ScrobblePod 0.7.1

    Good news everyone! :)

I've taken over the development of ScrobblePod and just released a new version, which fixes a lot of memory problems, as well as includes numerous other enhancements.

You can download the new version from:

    http://mmrr.fi/scrobblepod/download/0.7.1

The new version is pretty stable by now, although if you find any bugs, please report them to scrobblepod@mmrr.fi.

You can follow the development on GitHub, if you're into that sort of thing.

  • You rock, sotkov! Thank you so much for picking up development!

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
