A group for goths tired of fighting, bickering, and rudeness.

I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. All over the internet, and even in the sanctity of our clubs, there's strife and in-fighting. Everywhere people argue, troll, and flame when some poor soul accidentally mentions a band or artist that isn't Bauhaus, The Sisters of Mercy, or associated with Rozz Williams.

I think the state of our culture is disgusting. If we want to paint the future black and keep our scene alive, we have to collectively shut up and be as tolerate as we claim to be. A person should not be kicked around, yelled at, or disrespected because their musical taste is versatile.

The narrow-mindedness of our scene causes bad blood and turns people away from discovering the old, great music that we defend way too violently. We complain about how no one appreciates the influence of Alien Sex Fiend while we do nothing positive to encourage exploration and growth.

Let's revive interest in the scene by not being rude. Let's remember our roots in punk and glam without discrediting new acts and shunning people who listen to a little more Nightwish than they do Fields of the Nephilim. Enough about Manson, Hot Topic, and HIM. It's old news.

This group is related to dark music in general, be it deathrock, darkwave, industrial, EBM, futurepop, gothic metal, nu metal, synthpop, etc.

Keep it dark.

Snobbery is rife in every subculture that claims superiority in any aspect. black metal, goth, indie hipster fucktards, industrial, you name it. Resistance is futile, get over it.

hello out there. im not gothic but i very much support the gothic subculture scene. every gothic person i've ever met has been super duper nice to me, hugers! every single one of them. not sure i've ever met a snobby one before but that would sure suck.

It goes both ways. I've had other baby bats tell me Fields of Nephilim and Siouxsie And The Banshees arent as "goth" as Evanescence or Marilyn Manson. Its not that the old guard think they're better, it's that they feel like they're the only ones that still apreciate the older bands. The newer goths would be better received if the majority of them weren't getting their info of the culture off of Wikipedia and the media...

this is all Marilyn Manson and Hot Topics fault. the publics' confusion with real goths and (evanasence)mallgoths. In snobby goths' defense. All "cliques" are snobby, you're either not metal enough not punk enough or not goth enough. nothing new.

Most of the seminal "goth" bands would never admit to being "goth". It started, from what I gather, as the media's term for darker, more melancholic post-punk. It's like calling J.S. Bach classical. The term classical has been used so widely as an umbrella term for all European "art" music after the mid-1500s that the original definition takes a back seat.

this exists because people want to say non-goth stuff is goth...if it were this way for anyone else the same thing would occur. what if people started going around saying britney spears was metal? obviously metal heads would be seen as 'snobs'. seriously stop the blame. nothing is really anyone's fault...it's just a lack of info
