how can you possibly choose from so many great lines from the master!

Just reading through some of the posts with lyrics attached i have shivers! - really.

For me the whole of 'Losing it' says so much about how to write a thoughtful, insightful & most of all, moving song and i wish one day i could pen something a hundredth as good as this.

    Check it out!

The dancer slows her frantic pace
    In pain and desperation
Her aching limbs and downcast face
    Aglow with perspiration

Stiff as wire, her lungs on fire
    With just the briefest pause
    The flooding through her memory
    The echoes of old applause

    She limps across the floor
    And closes her bedroom door...

The writer stare with glassy eyes
    Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined

And streaked with tears of rage

Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
    With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
    By sickness and indecision

And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more...

Some are born to move the world
    To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
    The bell tolls for thee...

  • Xanadu has to be one of my favorites, the entire song.

To seek the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
To break my fast on honey dew
And drink the milk of Paradise...."

I had heard the whispered tales
    Of immortality
    The deepest mystery
From an ancient book. I took a clue
I scaled the frozen mountain tops
    Of eastern lands unknown
    Time and Man alone
Searching for the lost ---- Xanadu

Xanadu ---- To stand within The Pleasure Dome
    Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste anew the fruits of life
    The last immortal man
To find the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
Oh, I will dine on honey dew
And drink the milk of Paradise

A thousand years have come and gone
But time has passed me by
    Stars stopped in the sky
    Frozen in an everlasting view
Waiting for the world to end
    Weary of the night
    Praying for the light
Prison of the lost ---- Xanadu

Xanadu ---- Held within The Pleasure Dome
    Decreed by Kubla Khan
    To taste my bitter triumph
    As a mad immortal man
    Nevermore shall I return
    Escape these caves of ice
For I have dined on honey dew
And drunk the milk of Paradise
(sorry if the lyrics are incorrect, I got them from a website)
My second favorite is "We are the Priests of the Temple Of Syrinx" from 2112, but I just love that song

  • 3-way tie for me.... "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.", "Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand", "I can't pretend this stranger is a long awaited friend."

"Wave after wave will flow with the tide and bury the world as it does. Tide after tide will flow and recede, leaving life to go on as it was."

Honorable mention goes to "Each of us a cell of awareness, imperfect and incomplete."
