steel pulse at the national on the 9th.
gogol bordello played at toad's place...fuckin amazing.

  • @AMinorThreat: That STS9 show was amazing. It was the first time I had seen them play live.

  • I book shows in Richmond - most punk and hardcore stuff, but I like to mix it up. Most of you guys seem to be into drug-induced music, so I'd recommend Acheronian on 9/13.

Anyway usually I don't advertise like this but it seemed appropriate here.

The next show I'm attending is David Shultz, Jonathan Vassar and Josh Small at the Camel on 7/25. Gonna be a good one!

  • If you're into bluegrass, then check out Tony Rice.
    .
Playing in RIC on September 25 at the Science Museum.
    .
I'm taking my dad there for his B-day.

    Its better to be a smart-ass than a dumb-ass.
  • various shows not mentioned on list before

    (8-27) Adventure / EAR PWR @ Rumours (http://www.myspace.com/adventuresound)

(8-29) Kurt Weisman @ The Camal (he is doing this whole tour by biking from massachuets all the way down to georgia, which is by itself cool and it also helps that he makes some ballin' experimental folk music (http://www.myspace.com/kurtweisman)

    (9-6) Teenage Souls @ Rumours (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=23193452)

(9-16) Two really good shows are going down this night, first there is Mogwai / Fuck Buttons playing @ The National, and also at the The Canal Club you have PEELANDER-Z putting on one hell of a ridiculous fun show....and just for the record i really hate mogwai but fuck buttons is totally worth seeing(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cT0ZhOV6Bl8&feature=related)

(9-18) Juiceboxxx / Narwhalz @ TBA (shows designation has not been announced yet but if you just check Juiceboxxx's myspace i assume it will say sooner or later where it will be at) (http://www.myspace.com/officialjuiceboxxx)

(9-23) These Are Powers @ The Triple (http://www.myspace.com/thesearepowers)

(10-03) It looks like The Cool Kids and some other hip hop groups are playing @ The Landmark Theater but for some reason this seems fishy to me, but it is most definitely worth looking into it just to see The Cool Kids play (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b34U3-CutuU)

    (10-15) Monotonix @ Gallery 5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUQ-RWUvsGE)

(10-21) Broken Social Scene @ Toads Place (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uev2J_cBHjQ)

    (10-30) MAN MAN @ The National (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j2H7wsHt9E)

(11-01) Of Montreal / Gang Gang Dance @ The National .....once again on me being nit picky but i really dont care much for Of Montreal but im really quite excited to see Gang Gang Dance play live myself (http://www.myspace.com/ganggangdance)

yep that's about it, hope this excessive list helps you rhythm bandits out

  • MOFRO is playing in RIC on October 29. I'll definitely be there. The show is at the Canal Club at 8pm.

Hip Hop Legend, Nas will be at Toad's Place, Sept. 17, @ 8PM

Nelly will be there also Sept. 29, 8PM

  • Yeah, STS9 is definitely a great live band. I was also at that show. I had seen them at Lollapalooza last year but they were definitely better as a headlining act. They had more time to really show their strengths.

  • November shows in witchmond

(11-04) Aids Wolf / HEALTH / USAISAMONSTER are all playing together @ The Triple. This is a show not to miss, seriously do yourself a favor and spend your election day listing to this triple threat of noise rock extravaganza (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNXXRurBJBo)

(11-07) Japanther @ Thanky Space: opening night of the new exhibit at Thanky Space Art Gallery, with some free cupcakes and good brooklyn noise rock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1Qr-QEQmZI)

(11-12) Quintron & Miss Pussycat @ Gallery 5: Quintron & Miss Pussycat shall bring there fuzzy cabart puppet show to richmond. That discription alone should be enough incentive to check this out (http://www.myspace.com/mrquintron)

(11-17) Future Islands @ Nara Sushi: not sure how to fully sum these guys music. there apart of the wham city collective and it shows. but i really do have a hard time pin-pointing exactlly what this band is doing, should be a good show though (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyqO9viTzWYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyqO9viTzWY)

(11-26) Yip-Yip @ The Triple: over the top glitch music has never been so stylish. should be a great way to bring in your thanksgiving feast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1o3dCIlhtI)

  • Kinda new to this

I'm into mostly metal...electronica...some indie...but cant ever seem to find shows in time...help me! where do I look?

  • Here's some helpful links to Richmond clubs.
    Alley Katz
    Canal Club
Innsbrook (this is mostly a summertime venue)
    National
    Toad's Place

I'm sure you've heard of Plan 9 if you're from Richmond. Well this is their website and the link gives you an overview of all upcoming events in pretty much all the venues in Richmond

  • The Triple

A venue that I think a lot of people aren't aware of, is The Triple. It's been open for several years and since Community Chest started booking for them, they've gotten a nice variety of bands coming through. It's not necessarily the largest or most noteworthy venue in Richmond but it does bring in some pretty big acts.

    Check out their calendar:
