Rush vs Dream Theater

They are both incredible bands. Rush is a great band they helped inspire many great progressive bands (including Dream Theater), but in my opinion Dream Theater is better when I compare their music to Rush's. Both bands are outstanding though.

Rush up to 1985 completely destroys Dream Theater. There is no comparison.

I LOVE Dream Theater so much, but the new album = FAIL.
And.. I also love Rush, so at this momment I'll pick Rush (they haven't failed me xD)

I'd go with Rush too, although I'm less a fan of their more recent stuff.
DT has a few tracks I really like but overall I find the drumming to be too budda-budda-budda and the guitar to be an exercise in speed at the expense of a good tune.

These days I'd rather listen to Pendragon or IQ.

You can't compare this too bands. Is like comparing the best ww2 fighter airplane with a present one. Different generations. Does anyone think that maybe rush was for that generation what is DT for the present? This is stupid.

Techical, Rush are the best musicians, but still I prefer listening to Dream Theater :-)

Right now, right now I'd say RUSH. Later...I don't know.
Seriously, DT is my favourite band, but on the last albums I've found that they've lost originality.
On the other hand, Rush went through a lot of styles and they never dissapointed me.
