• Yes Evile's debut demo is excellent. They were recently signed to Earache. The British Thrash scene is exploding. Pitiful Reign's debut demo from this year is another excellent piece.

Slayer's new album was a big dissapointment but I guess I expected as much

Abandoned - Thrash Notes is very good though a bit more groove oriented than what I normally like.

Ghoul - Splatterthrash is excellent death/thrash.

Vedonist - Awakening to Immortality. More on the death metal side but there is some excellent thrash in there.

Sodom - Sodom is very solid but I still prefer the older material.

Don't remember if this is 2005 or 2006 but Mastery's debut EP Lethal Legacy blew me away. Excellent progressive thrash but they have yet to find a vocalist that is suitable enough so the release is entirely instrumental.

All I have to say. Violator's debut Chemical Assault is amazing.
Destined to Die is one of classics among classics, what it comes to real old school thrash metal. But like ZombiePornstar said in thrash&speed metal forum, the production lacks some brutality and heaviness, what it could have reached, and some parts could be done even more kickass. But negativity stops there, the album is so made for moshing and thrashing that.. aggressive as fuck and all in all good metal album. Somehow reminds me of Sepultura's Schizophrenia, but not in copy-cat way, the vibe way. I have here my favorite band. Violator!!

  • A couple more releases of the year I have come across.

Virgin Snatch - In the Name of Blood. Killer intense modern styled thrash without sounding to groove.

Demiricous - One (Hellbound)- Modern thrash with a Slayer influence, RiB era though not as fast but has a lot of cool hooks and changes.

Violator is definitely pure gold. Fucking great stuff.

Also another crazy-thrasher-group from brazil hails with the name of Eternal Devastation (hmm, Destruction anyone?) Any good ol' thrash band can be named as influence, but to me they sound quita alike with Hypnosia, but definitely with more speed and ferocity. Morelike the EP-era of tightness. Get it spinnin' bitches.

    slayer - christ illusion

  • Got to add Fueled by Fire's Spread The Fire to list of fucking killer 2006 releases. The guys just signed to Metal Blade. So both Earache (Evile, SSS) and Metal Blade have signed real Thrash bands recently. I hear Century Media may be looking at Warbringer from California (Another great band). Seems the bigger Metal labels are starting to take note.

Seems like it yeah. Third wave coming in US? Heh, isn't it in our hands already, and growing. Good thing, could mean we see these bands tour europe one day, when they sign to bigger labels. Someone should sign some brazilian bands.

Any news about Desilence, debut maybe coming out? Their first demo was goddamn awesome, if you remember.

Well that debut came out last year and it's pretty damn good melodic thrash metal. Some pussy tracks (like Temptation) have lost there.. I kinda like though Genesis cover, much better than that one mallcore band ruined. But overally minimum what i expected after their demo. If you like this band, Urto is a band to look for also. Same kind of stuff, nice riffs and high pitched vocals. Heathen of course too.. but It's the obvious when you talk about heavy thrash. Any news about their full lenght?
