  When I started this group I was an iTunes enthusiast. Now, two major releases later, I bemoan all the covert features that have been messed up or discontinued. Even daily tasks got weird now. I stopped updating the iTunes version that is managing my full music library, too late but there is no way back to the reliable releases of this program because all editing of the last year would go lost.

  I wish I could convince myself to delete some songs, I have at least 30k duplicate songs (like in compilations).

  It took about 12 hours to gather the initial data for installing Genius. Every update takes about 2 hours.

  Wow! The "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file for my music is 1.5 GBytes long.

  W00t! I finally can activate Genius. The new iTunes version (9.0.3) fixed the bug with large libraries (mine has 13,000 tracks meanwhile).

  Update 9.0.1 released. Lots of fixed problems (of problems that were newly created in 9.0.0).

  @jenzabar it's a good advice to wait until the major errors of a new version have been repaired before you install it. I stopped the Genius setup after it was gathering data for about 20 hours. Will try it again later.

  None of tools using the iTunes scripting interface is working. :(

  The iTunes version 9 is out since yesterday and I'm using it now.

  I installed iTunes 8.2.1 today. The iTunes DJ still behaves weird. I'll try to go back to 8.0 soon. Apple is disappointing! Seems as if the don't have any quality assurance any more.

  Installed iTunes 8.2 yesterday. Recommended if you already installed 8.1! At least the "Search" has been repaired and works again as I was accustomed to.

  Updating to iTunes 8.1 was my biggest mistake this year! There are more errors and crippled functions as benefiting innovation. I would return to the 8.0 version if there were a way without losing any data. I totally dislike the new iTunes DJ and wanna have the Party Shuffle back. :'(

  I dislike a lot of changes in the new version: The new "Play in iTunes DJ", interrupting the actual playback and often unintentionally selected, as also the display changing to iTunes DJ automatically are unwanted "features" to me.

  In the txt playlists exported by iTunes 8.1 are the line breaks missing. They do not longer work with Excel, they are nearly unusable now. :(

  My enthusiasm got reduced with every bug that I discovered. Who didn't yet install, should wait for the next version of iTunes 8.1, the version with all the bugs fixed. ;)

  I just installed iTunes 8.1.0.51. It's amazingly faster with my huge library than the previous release. Finally the insane "Party Shuffle" got renamed and is called "iTunes DJ" now (still my favorite playlist).

  The update to 8.0.2.20 isn't required as long as you don't have problems with the previous version.
