I just bought the new M83 and Portishead albums from amazon. I've waited to hear Portishead, and I'm full of excitement!

  • I bought Chopin Piano Concertos No. 1 and No. 2, The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat, The Sunburned Hand of the Man - Rare Wood

    A nice complimentary pair.

Portishead's album should be amazing (at a workrate of one track per year).

    dEUS - Vantage Point

just had a listen to the new dEUS album Vantage Point... the first 2 tracks sound promising, the rest of it blows in my humble opinion. Which makes me wonder why I even gave 'Antwerps finest' another try...

So far, it's not up there with "Before the Dawn Heals Us", (which I really liked from the beginning), but it also has a different approach. It's more poppy, focused on melodies. Some of the songs, like the single "Graveyard Girl" are very catchy.

It seems that Gonzales took out more of his love for ambient on the Digital Shades album, and more shoegaze and french pop on this new album.

I need to take a few more listens before I can judge it, but overall it was worth the buy.

  • haha, ive not bought a cd in ages. i was actually just talking about my last batch tho, as i can see them from where i slouch; they include Mark Stewart - Learning to Cope With Cowardice (1983) [yet unplayed], Cranes - Particles & Waves (2004) [bloody hell, i thought i'd played that one], Elf Power - A Dream in Sound (1999) [not great] and Davy Graham - Folk, Blues & Beyond ... (1965) [almost great].

    stab me 'til i cum
  • looks like '08 is the year everybody waited for.
my next purchase is going to be:

    Jamie Lidell - Jim
The Notwist - The Devil, You & Me
    Mark Stewart - Edit
