okay two artist I haven't gotten around to listening. what do you guys think of The National and Of Montreal?

of Montreal is a very good indie band known to release good albums consistently. They're a bit to the synth-pop side, with throwback 60's vocals, which really goes well with each other (surprisingly!). Therefore, I insist that this band is a must for all indie pop lovers. The history and band info's surely in wikipedia so let's go to the essentials:

Like I said, of Montreal has been known to have a great catalogue of fun albums (with outrageous names), but the zenith of their musicianship can be found in the two closely gapped albums:

If you like these albums, be sure to check out the rest of the discography, particularly this year's release 'Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?' and 'The Gay Parade (1999)'. I repeat, this band is already a must, and is considered one of the bigwhigs of the genre (and rightfully so.


The National has been quick to surface as an indie essential this year with their new album 'The Boxer', and I must admit that I haven't been acquainted with them that much, but they seem to be doing something right, earning a touring slot together with the Arcade Fire. But I believe the essential first step would be:

I, too, will be looking at this band in the coming weeks, so I can't say that much, but I'm positive that they're worth the try. I'll be adding info on them as I go along.
