Maybe we should make it 50 or 75 or something, this list has been going on for months :)

  • ^^
I was thinking about adding The Star Spangled Banner just to beef up the list. ;)

I saw them at the Spitz, HQ Club, that was legendary...
  • I don't know whether I can describe the mood/feeling that I'm going for, but I'll try.

Basically, music like Green Day's "Holiday" from their album "American Idiot". Simpe and upbeat rock; fast, but not ridiculous chord smashing; something that has that youth kind of mentality. I'd say Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" also creates that kind of atmosphere.

Have you tried The Fratellis or The Kaiser Chiefs yet? Chelsea Dagger might be something for you as well.

They're close, but still no cigar. I can't properly explain it, they just don't sound like what I'm after.. Also, I got Billy Talent's second album, so cleverly called "Billy Talent II" and I have to say, that *whole* album hit the spot. All the songs sound absolutely perfect to me.

    any suggestions?

That description makes me think of Lovespirals. You could also try some real "blues" like John Lee Hooker or something.

Can music be a cash cow? Definitely. But music can be much more than that! And sometimes I wish the people next to me could know at least as much as I do...

This is a bit late, but..
Based on the names, I would also think Mazzy Star and Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man could be nice.

If you like Norah Jones you might also enjoy Melody Gardot, her debut album is fantastic.

Toploader - Dancin' In The Moonlight
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
    A-Ha - Take On Me :D
Preferably popular songs ! Thanks in advance ! :)

oh someone has done it for me :D well, it will be 50 happiest songs by me then ;D thanks !

  • I don't know if i should post this in this thread or the Genre's thread, but i'll give it a go anyway...

I'm looking for something similar to Harry Gregson-William's "Ibelin" off the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack. I like that it is a traditional orchestral track but instead of being all Lord of the Rings dramatic and EPIC it's VERY heavily flavoured by Middle Eastern influences. I've tried searching for similar songs in say, World Music and stuff like Natacha Atlas but it's all very Bollywood. I would like to find one that is first and foremost an orchestral song, but with Middle Eastern flavours like Ibelin.

  • I'm looking for upbeat kind of dreamy, electronic songs. Think "Little Fluffy Clouds" by the Orb, "As If You Never Been Away" by Ulrich Schauss or various Boards of Canada tracks. You know the kind, like driving in a highway in the summer with the clouds over your heads (not driving music, but the feeling!). Can't explain it really any better :) Any recommendations will be appreciated! Thanks!

I am starting to get into musical moods that lack good variation, creating a just a repeat of the same things over and over again.

I'll give you a summation of the moods I am going for and then the sounds that I have been really into as of late for reference.

Moods: Upbeat, confident, relaxed, and nostalgic.

Recent music obsessions: Lucy Ford LP by Atmosphere, Be by Common, Labor by Aesop Rock, Most of all Buck 65, Celestial Clockwork by Illogic, Our Love to Admire by Interpol, and It's Frightening by White Rabbits

While there isn't really any variation till the end, that's been about the past two months or so. I am still a bit into Ska, preferably Capdown-esque, for a little bit more possible variation. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you very much. :D
