Could you tell me what's the genre of music played by Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Isis and other similar bands? I've got a little problem with it because:

    - some people say they're (but there's a group called Post-Metal is Not a Genre)
    - some people say they're (but they doesn't sound like Eyehategod or Crowbar)
    - some people say they're (but it's a very broad genre and there should be a better term to describe those bands)

    Anyone?

Sorry for my poor English. ;(

I'm afraid they don't fit to the same category as Alice in Chains and Faith No More.

    Your english is fine!

I think you've stumbled on a genre that should exist but doesn't (in which case, you're well placed to give it a name yourself)!

Sites like AMG are lazy, "alternative metal" is a cop-out and incorrect.

We had the same problem with bands like Stereolab, who are labelled anything from Post-Rock to Experimental Rock. It's actually "Abstract Pop", we coined the phrase and opened the desk.

    The obvious choice is....

    The Jesus & Mary Chain - Honey's Dead (1992)

Their hugely underated 1992 album that heralded the return of "noise".

    Choice Cuts:
    Teenage Lust
    Far Gone And Out
    Sugar Ray

To crank the volume up a little more...

    Curve - Cuckoo (1993)

Curve are often described as "The Jesus & Mary Chain fronted by Debbie Harry". That's all you need to know. :)

    Choice Cuts:
    Crystal
Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus
    Super Blaster

Thanks for your albums, we'll get them on the list. :)

In the last minutes of "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd, there's a saxophone solo by Dick Parry which I like very much and i'm wondering if there's a jazz genre which has this sound? I'm guessing it some type of cool jazz from the '70/'80s, but I don't know, my knowledge on jazz genres is limited.
