    Ice (2:12)

From The Plan - an interesting little album in which, according to Gary Numan's suprisingly candid sleeve notes, they tried unsuccessfully to jump on the punk bandwagon... before jumping on the synth bandwagon witb more success. A very nice "what could have been" album nonetheless, in a similar way to The Manor Sessions

    Sofa Song
    Eddie's Gun (2:13)

2 for 1 - A double whammy from their debut, a triumphant bit of indie rock...

Pot-plant waterer at Artist Expert - Neil Young, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci

  • Buzzcocks - Whatever Happened To? 2:14

Amongst the vanguard of punk, the Buzzcocks were top-quality. Here's a highly inquisitive track.

  • Current 93 - The Long Shadow Falls (2:15)

The opening track of the amazing album All the pretty little horses. "Why can't we all just walk away, why can't we all just walk away, why can't we all just walk away". Soft chimes and strings.

  • The Undertones - Wednesday Week (2:16)

One of my fav tunes from the undertones, Sharky sounds particularly great. Found on their follow up album.

  • All You Want Me For (2:17)

An Australian group from the '80s with a great take on the'60s garage sound.

Heres a sample: At First Sight

  • ^ great pick there toucan ;)

    Catman (2:18)

This track just bleeds out evil with its mesmerising rhythmic shuffle and voodoo like vocals, still amazed that this was recorded in 1956-7.

    Frisbee (2:21)

Neo Psychedelia at its best, when man satisfies that urge to bark like a poodle.

The World Loves Us and Is Our Bitch (2:23)

Loud and funny punk, a choice cut off my favourite album of this decade.

  • Stroke (2:24)
Once described as "noise terrorists" these guys sparked a furore in 1988 by miming their song “In the Raw” on the Australian national broadcaster while in the raw themselves. Yes there is a youtube video.

    Mushroom Clouds (2:25)

Classic from their debut album. Arthur was probably well on his way to indulging in copious amounts of 'shrooms, LSD, 'erb and anything else to hand by this point. Certainly didn't do the music any harm...

Pot-plant waterer at Artist Expert - Neil Young, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci

"remember that? there is a reason that animals are killed. It's called fucking FOOD. And raping?! what the fuck does that mean? if your talking about the milking of cows' utters, then your fucking wrong. if their not milked, they explode, and you get a cow who dies froman infection because you tried to stop producing dairy. you are a fucking retard."
  • Dancing (2:28)

One of my most favourite basslines. Just feel like dancing whenever i hear it :P

  • ^ On Bauhaus, Peter Murphy is living in Turkey these days (as am I).

    I Wanna Be a Flintstone (2:29)

A very underated UK band with a kind of rockabilly sound. This one was featured in the Fintstones movie.

    Dying (2:31)

Really not quite as maudlin as the title suggest, taken from the solid Skylarking album.

Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby (2:34)

Fun little pop song from former Unicorn Nick Diamonds. A lot less weird than his former band, but good nonetheless.

  • Electrelane- On Parade (2:35)

This is from the Brighton quartet's second album "The Power Out." It is, clearly, a fast track and completely danceable. If you are familiar with their work, you can point to the fact that this song is completely out of character for them as they are much more towards being a post-rock band in sound that also doesn't sing that much, even though they should because they are really good at it.

Are You Indie? Do You Hate Indie Snobs? You know why? Because Indie Elitism Supports Terrorism
  • I'm selling out (2:36)

There is a man, he lives in Washington
He works behind a big black desk
You know he had to rape the free world
and he wants to rape the rest but ...
we're following him on his mission of destruction
we'll follow him til the very end
all the way with the Yankee dollar
We've sold out to the highest bidder!

That from 1988 – Same shit, different decade!
