The Track Length Kiosk: Riding The 19:00 Express!

Welcome to the Track Length Kiosk (AKA, "How Long Is Yours")?

A journey from Power Pop to Ambient.

    - Increment the track length by a second each time:

    - In the name of music exploration, try to give a brief description of the track.

    - Let's take it as far as we can! To infinity, and beyond?!

    To begin the journey:

    Candydiosis (1:00)

A C-86 pisstake of Psychocandy (probably jealousy more than anything).

    hhhhhmmm!

    Puerto Rican Ghost Length: 1.01

nice piece of noise by this no-wave group, with people getting asked to close doors and other random shouting, and a rather compelling drum/bass backing.

    =)

The Girl From the East Tower (1:02)

An indie pop ballad, just Harvey and his guitar. I have no idea what the east tower is, probably a dirty apartment block in London.

  • Night Theme (reprise)

the last song on the first side of a very mediocer [sp?], most probably a poor track like the rest [is there anything good on that album? no. ok.] the first track on the second side is 'night theme', and its not much longer, or better. [what a waste!]

    Big Business (1:04)

Retro 60's track (on a tight budget).

    off the excellent Operation Mindcrime

  • lick my ass(1:06)
probably pretty shitty, again. off of his Sex Style [Erotic Man] album. he realy was a sick misoganistic immature eh, kind of rappin guy, i suppose. he is good on dr octogon tho, or great i should say. and the best rap song ever, diesel powr by the prodogy. and he did coin the phrase 'smack my bitch up', what a wanker.

    Volkswagen Ad (1:07)

Just that, the ad music for Volkswagen (which for some reason is coveted amongst fans). It is a good little tune mind.

The eponymous track to a really awesome album. It's a weird kinda instrumental gig, but it's basically the best song I ahve that's 1:08, so that's what you get.

I wish I had gotten 1:08; I have lots of great songs that length!

the Book of Am - Introduction (1:09)

Lots of spooky, droney pseudo-Eastern vocals
harmonizing over even dronier fiddle bits.

    Inside Of Me (1:10)

A blistering Space Rock track that would fit on many a Hawkwind album. Nice siren-like guitars. I'd prefer this as a much longer song. :(

    see above. haha

    or

    Donuts (Intro) (1:11)
its actually the outro. again, i cant remember the song exactly, but this time it is probably excellent. taken from donuts, one of 2006's top albums. istrumental hip-hop; best example iv heard, better than madlib, easy.

  • Awful Bliss (1:12)
Track of their famous/breakthrough and IMO best album 'Bee Thousand', not the best one on the album by far, but it was the only track in my list that had 1:12 xD.

  • Start to Move (1:13)

One of the many one minute songs from Wire's manic debut album Pink Flag. The popping of percussion starts this track off, the pulsing guitar riff maintains the rest until it reaches a sudden abrupt stop. Much like many of the Pink Flag tracks, you'd be wishing it went for longer.

    Shocker in Gloomtown (1:14)

Sounds like the Pixies meet the Ramones and My Bloody Valentine. Just as you get your head round what's going on, it ends.

One of many short instrumental hip-hop gems from the amazing Donuts.

    Nuclear War (1:16)

You're a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty girl. And you can do a lot of things with that.

    The Stand (Prophecy) (1:17)

Those who thought "THIS SHOULD BE A FULL LENGTH, IT'S BLOODY SQUILLIANT" did get their wish, as the band recorded a stomping version later on. Even this is infectious though, the tune, the lyrics, the whole atmosphere. A small track that's much larger than the sum of its parts.

    Themselves (1:18)

Dunno how, but this track manages to be absolutely epic despite the length. Great lyrics, great guitar, and as on every other track on the album amazing bass. One of my favourites from the classic 'Double Nickels On the Dime'.

  • The Garden of Zephirus 1:19
A typical esoteric Dead Can Dance-Track. Short but nice.

    Elektrobier 1:19
    12 x u (lest die pravda) 1:19
    German Punk.

  • Recommendation - 1:20

Layered folk-pop? I suck at descriptions.
