    Yep, so for those of you who are looking for similar artists to early Godflesh or Swans, or if you're looking for drone music other than Sunn O))), then check here for some recommended groups.

    For those of you looking for an extension of what Godflesh has achieved, I suggest checking out their "copy cat" group Pitchshifter (especially Industrial and Submit albums)... yeah they're a nu-metal band today, but back in their days, they played one of the heaviest, densest sounds around; sometimes even heavier than what Godflesh did!

    Other groups similar to old Godflesh (aka who decided to mock their style to say the least):

    Dead World (the US version of Godflesh), Skin Chamber (with hints of doom metal), Crawl (the death metal version of Godflesh) and... well, this is a good starter list. The best thing about these bands is that you can find their CD's on Amazon.com for a good $1.00 at cheapest! I remember I got all of Dead World's CD for 1 cent off of that site!

    For noise enthusiasts who worship the drone and feedback, here's some rather unknown groups to check out:

    Asva (organ-incorporated drone), Black Boned Angel (New Zealand harsh noise group with metallic guitars and slooooow beats), Hordes Of Satan (minimal industrial drone/doom metal featuring the original Pitchshifter guitarist from the old days)...

    Anyone else wish to throw out a random group name to contribute to this thread?

    shameless self-promotion tiem!!!

    I'd like you to add Roncsipar.
    We'd formed of the intent to pick it up where OLD left it off between Lo Flux Tube and Sleastak. Only with different vocals, resembling of Head of David's Reuben.

    We're nowhere near to what we'd want to accomplish, but has a cute semi-album release at Grindhead records. It mainly has the feel of the first Scorn mixed with the early 90s industrial metal underground phenomenons like Malhavoc, Treponem Pal, Sonic Violence and Skrew.

    Burmese?

    Definitely heavy, but possibly closer to sludge than 'monolithic'. Their self titled album needs to be heard, regardless.

    Hah, love that title.

    I need to acquire those two, I've been listening to the album I own quite a bit ever since you brought 'em up.

    what our distinguished leader Davida_Loca meant by Group was...

    not, a Last.fm group of individuals/users like this one you've just joined,
    but, a band, a group of musicians who have joined forces and musicianship skills to create compositions we might enjoy.

    having said that, welcome! :)

    HALO from australia

    its like Godflesh with no fucking melody or structure. just humming, noise, explosions.

    remain true to yourself, but move ever upward toward greater consciousness and greater love! at the summit you will find yourselves united with all those who, from every direction, have made the same ascent. for everything that rises must converge.
  • Cable Regime are an awesome band from what I've heard too, kind of similar to Godflesh/Head of David.

    something of my own, if you don't mind;

    http://www.last.fm/music/gruuthaagy/ca081+-+Gruuthaagy+-+Metraton+-+Order+Of+The+Outer+Darkness

    or at internet archives;

    not Godflesh style, instrumental stuff, first track is ambient, other two are monolithic industrial / rhythmic noise, but my own way, you can hear some metal influence too.

    as gruuthaagy i do a lot of different stuff, each release is actually a different approach, but this one may be the most interesting to you...

    also started a new project to be focused on down tempo stuff only, with vocals, there will be more industrial influences in future

    now, you pretty much mentioned all the most important monolithic industrial metal stuff, but maybe not strictly it yet some good stuff that comes to my mind right now;

    Beherit - started as very raw grinding and doomy BM, later moved to electro / dark ambient, they are just back after 15 years of silence, and new album is very interesting, kinda raw BM mixed with electronic ambient.

    Eerie Von - he makes interesting music, former Danzig bass player, some his records are mixing lo fi death rock and electro industrial, hard to describe, has his own style, too.

    Esoteric - not really anything industrial here, extreme doom metal that yet has some of that feel.

    Gored - goregrind from Germay that has only bass and drums, with lots of sludgy ambient parts, somehow industrial like.

    Moral Suckling - US anarcho punk band, released just one mini album in 90's, somewhere between Rudimentary Peni and old The Ex, with maybe a bit of industrial touch.

    The Nihilistic Front - newer extreme doom band, has also somehow industrial feel in some parts.

    normpeterson - same here, if you like Halo you may like this too. very harsh stuff.

    Zaraza - older band, not active anymore i think, pretty much monolithic industrial metal. with roots in Poland, than moved to North America.

    Ysigim - obscure Polish long forgotten doom band, very original, has somehow a sound close to post metal black drone etc long before it became a trend.

    Havohej - another black metal band, lo fi with very experimental ambient sound, not on full length but on 7''s/EP's.

    Psycho Charger - very interesting band, mixing psychobilly with electro/industrial.

    The Nefilim - if you don't mind some gothic thrown in, they recorded very good industrial metal album.

    sorry if some of this is a bit offtopic, as not all is strictly monolithic industrial metal, but i think some of you may be interested to check some of this...

    A good friend of mine is friends with Alex from Leech Woman. I 'may' be able to track down some of their stuff for you. No promises, but I'll see what I can do.

  • I found a blogspot for their first album if anyone's interested?
