  yeah, this is the way how Michael would answer! and, of course, he would also reject the title "Saxophone God", that someone gave him (as the description of this group), instantly, but ... maybe with a little smile, I guess ;) ... I personally think that he, too, was heavily influenced by the humble personality of 'Trane and all the other jazz-greats of the past and present ... always will remember them and listening to their great music... Jazz has the power to influence people in a good way, it's just music and sound and improvisation and free spirit without emphasizing any ideologies ... it's like John Cage once stated, that, if he listens to sound, he doesn't want the sound to tell him anything different, but sound ... he does not expect any message behind the sound, he just hast so much love for the pure sound, that it does not have to be anything else

  "Michael hat jetzt als Komponist und Musiker eine neue Klasse erreicht", meinte wiederum Herbie Hancock, der seit den 80er Jahren mit Brecker zusammenarbeitete. "Trotz seiner Krankheit, oder vielleicht auch gerade wegen ihr, gelingt es ihm, neue Gipfel zu erklimmen und nach vorne zu schreiten. Die beste Art, ein Gift zu nehmen, ist, wenn man es in eine Medizin verwandelt. Er erlebt gerade etwas sehr Destruktives und wandelt es in etwas extrem Konstruktives um."
