I got it working, and ot worked for a bit. Then now suddently it's only submitting a few of my tracks. I've plaid like 10 tracks sice it started, all with full metadata, and only Iron Maiden - The Wicker Man has shown up in my recent tracks, and that was like the 3rd song i plaid. What is up?

  • Check the log file (you can access it from the plugin config screen) for any error messages.

Most likely it's a temporary glitch with the last fm server. Your tracks should be cached and will appear later.

Now it happened again, and checking the logs it never submited the track at all. It submited at first 3 songs, then i plaid two more that didn't get submited, and it ain't mentioned in the plugins log at all. But then it started playing a third other song, and that came up. Log:

    new beta scrobbler

I got the new beta scrobbler (the one intergrated with the last.fm player, see the beta group/forum forum for more info), working with mediamonkey.

Install the beta app/player, let it search/install the winamp plugin.

Open explorer, find the winamp/plugins folder and copy the file "ml_wa2_scrobbler.dll" file to the mediamonkey/plugin folder.

Rename the plugin file to "gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll", since MM does not support ML - Media Library plugins, it won't recognise the ML_ plugin, but once renamed to gen_ it will see and it works. (so far)

Currently, with the last.fm app not recognizing mediamonkey, any time the winamp plugin is update, you will have to manually copy/rename the plugin dll file again.

  • Thanks teknojnky

Thank you teknojnky, I was really wondering whether us MediaMonkey-Users would be able to use the new scrobbler plug-in. I tried out what you posted - and it works beautifully...

    Important note about proxy settings

Aparantly the Audioscrobbler plugin honors your IE proxy settings. Even though you may not have the "Use Proxy" option set in the configuration dialog it will still try to use whatever proxy is set up for IE.

I had a proxy set in IE for a VPN I am on occasionally, but I almost never use IE (Firefox all the time)....Finally figured out why no submissions were working.

Yep, it crashes here as well.

It crashes with me too, and doesn't work anyway. Went back to the old-fashioned plugin ...

  • Ah nice, got it working with MM. It's scrobblin' up a storm now. Much appriciated.

  • I hope someone can help me here. I got it working once (months ago) Then i had to shut it down. Now i try to re install everything, but the "General Plugin" folder just stays empty... Tried everything i could think of.

    Anyone got a Idea?

  • Do you know AutoRateAccurate for MM?

A friend of mine programmed a script for MediaMonkey which generates automatically ratings for the tracks in your library.
First of all it keeps your selfmade ratings, secondly it counts the track skipping which causes that the skipped track gets a lower rating. Thirdly and mainly it calibrates automatically the rating-algorithm.
In addition you can delete all your previous ratings and much more.

    Hope you'll like it

    AutoRateAccurate

  • I got it working but everytime I boot up my computer the plugin disappears and I have to hunt it down again. Any idea why it's not staying in mediamonkey?

Sorry I don't, does the file physically disappear from the mediamonkey plug ins folder?

    It should be named "gen_wa2_scrobbler.dll".

me too. This thread is a little confusing because it starts with the old method (using the winamp plugin without the Last.FM player) then switchs in mid discussion.

I was using the old method in an earlier instalation, but it had problems. I am now trying to use the new method described here:
    http://www.last.fm/group/Media+Monkey/forum/21483/_/178013

I can see the winamp plug-in with the proper name, but cannot open the configuration settings to turn it on.

    Help!

    MediaMonkey 3 & Audioscrobbler

    Hey there,

after formatting my HDD I got a (tiny) problem with the scrobbler and the new Monkey.

Before I used MediaMonky 2 (don't know which version) and my Last.fm tool (compared with the "old" winamp plugin) told me, what i heard. Now I did the same and my tool does not tell me what I hear - either the tracks are scrobbled.

Does anybody got an Idea what I did wrong?

(Sorry for this bad English ^^")

I have the same problem with 3-rd version of MM, what should I do?

  • how I did it...

    Using newest version of mediamonkey.
    So, first I went here:
    http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26404

And installed the plugin by just clicking on it, and clicking open when firefox came up with the "Open with" dialog. It automatically suggested mediamonkey for me.

Then, I went to the last.fm player, and went to tools - get plugin.
Go to programfiles/mediamonkey, and find the mediamonkey exe file. Clicky, and it suggested that I use foobar plugin. I did, and it works now.

The last fm player doesnt show anything in the "now playing" section, but it shows up fine on the website.

    Hope that works for you.

had the same problem as narticus and found a solution:
remove MM (everything: also folder in appdata (vista) )
reinstalled everything fresh and also the new plugin.

now using MM 3.04 and everything works fine

edit: and now we have the same problem! songs only appear in '' listening now'
