    French Teen Idol

One of the most interesting artists I disovered on last.fm is French Teen Idol. It's a smooth mixture of word snippets and a soothing mélange of ambient and post-rock. Relaxing beats mingle with tender melodies and set the stage for the accentuation of the sometimes emotional and sometimes very rational spoken words. I personally like the recognition value, it's the kind of sound you won't forget and will immediately identify ever since.

You can download the self-titled album for free here on last.fm. French Teen Idol is a beautiful, highly inspiring album.

Natural Snow Buildings - I Came Down Here. Lovely and haunting... my favourite kind of post-rock!

Wow! Natural Snow Buildings is among the finest post-rock stuff I've ever listened to. There are many pretty overrated post-rock bands like Mono or 65daysofstatic and some very underrated ones. Natural Snow Building definitely belong to the underrated ones. I consider them to be more fragile, less pathetic than many others. Shoot me, but I prefer low-key performances. The simplicity of the arrangement and composition is remarkable. No overwhelming bombast, I love that.

    NetLabels

To elaborate on aNemesis's discovery of French Teen Idol, please go to the Wayback Machine site, in netlabels you will find them and so many other interesting artists of all genres. Two for starters, Two Zombies Later and Interplanetary Materials, both are various artists compilations. Archbishop Jason Polland is one of my favorites. For the adventurous seeking a mind expansion, Webbed Hand Records has it all. Hope this was helpful.

  • Great tip!!!
Here is a link to the Two Zombies Later Compilation - gonna have to give it a listen.

    and the Wayback Machine

  • ....ahhh...the whole Two Zombies Later album is up on Last.Fm too:

See that's why I like DifferentStars: You say something and she's investigating everything and provides dozens of links. Good job, Mrs. Hercule Poirot!

  • post-rock>ethereal noise pop

I found here on "last.fm" a post-rock band called "Hammock", their style is very ethereal it remembers me to the Harold Budd/Cocteau Twins Cooperation but the music is all instrumental and their best album until now i think is Kenotic

Music has the Power to make the World a Better Place.
