MEREDEAD - The Fourth Album, April 2011

EDIT II: Changed thread title from "Folk Album Announced for Summer/Fall 2010." Apparently the album will be only somewhat less heavy than usual, but will still have increased folk elements.

So they're doing an Eluveitie, and will be releasing a non-metal album within a year. :D

    Info:

    http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/interviews/hit_the_lights/leaves_eyes_on_the_album_theres_something_for_everyone_to_discover.html

    Liv:
Leaves Eyes is making a fourth album. It won't be a regular album. After the production of 'Njord' was completed, we had a couple of songs more in the vein of "Irish Rain", and "Morgenland". These songs are more quiet, and more folk inspired. Leaves Eyes' folk album will be released during the summer of 2010. We're already working on that one too, but we have to tour of course.

Interviewer: One of the things that would make a lot of fans happy is a duet between the Espenæs sisters. (think of Beyonce and Solange Knowless doing a duet). Have you ever considered this for "Njord"?

Liv: It's not that easy since my sister moved back to Norway a couple of years ago, however, I am planning a duet on our fourth album, which will be a folk-oriented album, planned to be released in summer/fall 2010.

This'll be interesting as I've always thought of the acoustic ballads as intros, outros and connectors of the metal songs; I'm not sure what to think of an entirely folk album. But I suppose it'll be amazing, if Irish Rain is a good indicator of its quality. :)

EDIT: Thanks to Victor_A for finding the interviews! :)

    OMG! :D :D :D
I think Irish Rain was quite dull, but except that their acoustic songs are usually my favourite ones. So this will really be something to look forward to.

  • this is just wonderfull :D

Noooo, Moowny! :D Well, my favorites are the "pretty" metal songs like Return to Life, Twilight Sun, The Holy Bond. It's usually hard for the acoustic songs to get my attention... but then again, I did love Mourning Tree and Amkomst... and the two ballads on My Destiny, and Irish Rain, sooo yeah, go go Liv :-P

Couple of tidbit updates from Liv & Alex on twitter :)

    http://twitter.com/Leaves_Eyes

...also we think to release a new tour edition of njord with some bonus songs

all great in 2010 so far--we had a great time in norway with the family---
we are working hard on new leaves eyes songs too- they will have a more folky touch, we want to release something special next with some guests as well

Nooo, I hate it when they rerelease albums with more bonus tracks if I already own a previous version. ._. I hope it won't be any interesting songs, just from My Destiny or from the folk album. ;P

    Hmm, guests? Sounds interesting.

"and by the way the new stuff is kicking ass we wrote some epic and real heavy stuff as well as atmospheric songs with a folky touch"
So it won't be a non-metal album after all?

Yeah, I'm not quite true / unpoor enough to buy an album twice. But I'm always happy to get bonus songs by any means. I never listen to my physical CDs any way. :)

And yeah, I don't understand that, whether it's actually a folk metal album...? Yesterday they said on Facebook "A full length interview with Liv talking about the new release is going to be uploaded to discussion board tonight," but it's not up yet. :D

Edit: Up, but no new word on this album yet: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=271709448900&topic=14605

Well, I don't listen to my physical CDs that much either, but I somehow never manage to buy downloads and I don't want to get them illegally. :P

If it's just a folk metal album, it wont much of a "not regular album", will it? :S

"but it's not up yet. :D" - :D? That's an odd smiley choice for that sentence. ^^

Yeah, I'm wondering if the "epic and real heavy" new material is for that tour version of Njord or something else? I dunno, I guess we'll have to wait and see. :)

Yeah I often make odd choices like that, sry ;)

    Press release :)

Attention LEAVES' EYES Fans! In connection with the up-coming concert season in 2010, LEAVES' EYES have a surprise for their fans: The band recorded new bonus tracks at Mastersound Studio for their special edition of the successful charts-entering album "Njord". The "Special Fan Edition" contains the title track "At Heaven's End", "Angus and the Swan" and the acoustic version of "Irish Rain" - three so far unreleased songs! The special fan edition with a noble matt and glossy foil printed slipcase, which is strictly limited, contains all songs from the “Njord” era: The “Njord” Digipak, including two bonus tracks, as well as the brand new bonus CD “At Heaven’s End”, which contains seven non-album tracks, and last but least the video clip “My Destiny”! This precious CD package can be ordered at Napalm Records mail order exclusively: http://www.napalmrecords.com/product_info.php?products_id=12643

    On Facebook:

LEAVES' EYES - Drum Recordings for new album!

The production of the new LEAVES' EYES record is in full process at Mastersound Studio. Recordings of the drums are finished already!

Drummer Roland Navratil comments:"It´s done! After the European tour and a lot of festival shows the drum recordings for the upcomming Leaves Eyes record are done. Only the percussions and big drums are left to record. We had a lot of fun in the studio and the drums sound killer! There are new fresh elements and influences in the songs. It will be a very versatile album and I am sure you will like it as much as I do!"

No word lately about this being a folk/acoustic album at all, which you'd think would be mentioned if that's still the plan, since they are a metal band. Guess we'll wait and see :) I want either....

The guitar recordings of the upcoming LEAVES' EYES album started at Mastersound Studio.

Guitarist Tosso comments:"It feels great to be back in our own studio and record the guitar tracks for the new Leaves' Eyes album . Seven songs are already finnished guitarwise. They all feature the Leaves Eyes guitar trademarks like the downtuned guitars, the romantic melodies, clean and accoustic guitars as well as some really cool surprises. I think you can expect nothing less than a killer album. I cant wait to hear the final result."

Sounds like it's not an acoustic/folk album after all, maybe they've delayed that for later? Any way, this is really exciting, I thought we might have to wait two or three years for another album O_o

I did think about asking on Facebook but I'm a coward and I don't know if they read and answer comments anyway. But yes, it doesn't sound like it'll be a folk album at all, which makes me sad because I would really have appreciated one. :/ And the new songs on At Heaven's End were really uninspired so I hope these ones won't be, too. :P

At Heaven's End is good, the other two are unbearable. I'm not big on Leaves' Eyes' acoustic songs but who knows what LEIV will be like

I don't actually remember, it was an interview somewhere and Liv explained what it meant (Sea of... something?) I can't find it now :P

  • I think it's this interview:
    http://www.x-plosiveentertainment.com/xplosive/index.php/interviews/389-leaves-eyes-interview-with-liv-kristine

Liv talks about the album Meredead and apparently it means 'deadly sea'.
