It's not stopping me from using this amazing app, but the resolution is still lower than what the iPhone 4 puts out. That's my only gripe so far.
We'll work on updating the artwork for the iPhone 4's high res screen in a future update.

  • Yaaaay!

  • Ok, I have one thing though: when you go to the events and click on one, it automatically selects that your not attending then you click "done" to go back and it dissapears!

  • How come when last.fm client is at the background it won't automatically plays the next song when the current one finishes? It only buffers the next song when i load it to the foreground.

  • -double post- Sorry!

  • Ok. I retested the client and it seems that if you put it at the background, the player will buffer the next song most of the time when the current one ends. But if I put it to the foreground while it buffers AND THEN immediately quit the client, it will not continue to buffer.

    Is that a bug?

I noticed that as well, in both My Library and also streaming a Station. It will quit buffering in the background and won't load the next song. I'm also on 3G, maybe this is a song quality issue?

Actually, nevermind about it being a song quality issue, that HQ feature is turned off in my settings, not sure why it's not going to the next song while in the background..

Got the new app. It's great that it plays in the background. However, if you pause when in the background, the app loses track of where it was and you have to relaunch and replay the station.

Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to have this fixed (Pandora--which I never listen to does this properly if you want to see what I'm talking about).

Thanks for the great app update!

I'm pretty sure the pausing thing is not a bugg because last fm dose not allow pausing due to liscensing issues.

Though I have had the other background problems expressed above.

    Fake Pause for Multitasking

I've got the updated client on iOS 4, and apart from some occasional crashes, it works very well. However, as others have noted, the lack of a pause feature is extremely annoying. I realize that license restrictions prevent you from actually implementing pause, but maybe that's not necessary.

I think the biggest problem with the lack of pause is the fact that a momentary interruption requires a full relaunch of the app. Such interruptions are easy to trigger accidentally when using the headphones remote (by performing the double-tap just a little bit too slowly). I think that if we could resume station playback without explicitly relaunching the app, the lack of a true pause would be a non-issue.

Here's what I suggest: implement the pause command by stopping the station, just as you do now. However, you should also implement the resume command by restarting the formerly-playing station. Just treat this as a true restarting of the station, no need to resume the previously-playing song. Pre-buffering would be nice of course, but not entirely necessary.

  • i'm not sure why it's not playing in the background for me when i go to check my email. the app just stopped. and when i relaunched, i'm hearing the same exact songs. i have iphone 3g but i have updated my phone and all of the apps as well. is there something in the settings i have to change to enable multitasking??

The iPhone 3G doesn't support multitasking.

iOS has very strict rules about multitasking -- apps can only run in the background *while music is playing*. As soon as we stop playback, iOS quits our app.
