Vinyl records are bulky, obnoxiously fragile and temperature sensitive and of inferior sound quality. I hate that garbage, and I hate all the pretentious wankers who think it makes them cool to follow that pathetic nostalgia trend like the mindless little sheep they are.

True quotes:

"I love all these audiophile idiots who set up music blogs, upload shit that they say is at 320kbps, and then it turns out that they just recorded their fucking record player and it sounds all shitty with echoes and surface noise. Vinyl is for fucking idiots."
-TheTrueSeker

"So what you're saying is you're hanging onto an obsolete and technically inferior format to make yourself feel better out of silly nostalgia, and possibly and even more ridiculous self-importance from seniority and "dedication". Yeah, great work, you really told him!"

Vinyls are fine, nothing wrong with them. But nothing is wrong with CDs either. People seem to prefer Vinyls just because they're cool to have, at least a lot of people I know, they'll be the first to take pictures and brag about their new vinyl score and everyone creams, but if someone does the same with a CD, no one gives a shit lol. But at the end of the day, it's all about having an actual copy of your music and enjoying the music, who cares about all this nonsense.

"Obnoxiously fragile" Yeah, tell that to my CD's with scratches on them after a single play in a stereo and then are forever unplayable in my CD player (and lets factor in my previous laptops CD drive not working for a single CD or DVD either despite never using it), then tell that to the 7'' that was dropped on an wood floor and still survived intact and playable. Might as well just call this group "I Hate Hipsters".

There is no difference today with vinyl and CD. Most albums are mastered digitally and for their CD versions, very few albums are truly analog anymore, much less mastered for the vinyl format. If we talk about records from the 60's with their stereo and mono versions then yeah there's a huge difference. And most 70's records are mastered for the vinyl format, so they definitely would sound better than the reissued versions that came on CD and were likely remastered at the time. However most albums in the past 20 years were mastered for CD's, or recorded digitally, so the audio signals would be the same. Any vinyl reissue that's come out is usually sourced from a remastered CD version, not the original master of the album itself.

Many of the albums I have, i have on multiple formats (cd, cassette, mp3, vinyl), and I've found that vinyl was the best. I got a record player for my 15th birthday because someone gave me some Devo records, not because of any stupid trends. And I was amazed at the difference in the sound. To me, vinyl sounds the best by far. Yes, it is a pain to take care of , but IMO it is worth it. I have run out of space to store my records, and yeah this makes me very annoyed and i wonder if i should even keep this vinyl habit up anymore. but once i play a record, i remember why it was all worth it in the first place. Really I think the people that are in this group haven't even really listened to vinyl. And you only hear "hisses and pops" on dirty records. and i dont know how i could like vinyl because of nostalgia when i was never around vinyl until i was 14. if i were to be nostalgic about any format, it would be cassettes since that is what i grew up with (before cds). not vinyl.

There is no scientific proof to suggest vinyl sounds better than compact disc. Sound quality is dependent on the recording source, mastering and the quality of audio equipment used to convey the music. For any medium—whether vinyl, CD, etc.—it is recommended to use high-end audio equipment to produce the best sound possible from your music collection. A lot of people favor vinyl simply due to misplaced nostalgia, whether its enthusiasts are willing to admit it or not.

it seems to me that everyone here just bashes on vinyl simply due to the fact that hipsters have an interest in them. i'm not speaking for anyone but myself when i say this, but i personally collect vinyl because i can appreciate the artwork a lot more and, i just prefer their sound and, if a record is properly cleaned and taken care of it shouldn't have any skips or pops. hotterthanjuly, i would bother acknowledging your thoughts, but you come off as a condescending twat. just remeber that black people have white palms because we all have little good in us, and i really hope you embrace it! :)

Vinyl it's the biggest thing I've ever seen and also it's soo fragile, much more than CD, I don't have enough space in my home for this and the worst this thing today it's so expansive! My God, in another day I saw a men buying a vinyl, only one and the price was 167,80 dollars.

Yes, yes, thank you for that, those bastards annoy me too! Really, the only good thing you can say about vinyl is that it can't stand as much loudness abuse as CDs.

Thanks so much for this group. I can't stand these hipster douchebags who only like vinyl for the reasons that you brilliantly and articulately bring up above in the info section. There are so many obnoxious hipsters in my field of study and they drive me nuts, especially with this vinyl snobbery crap. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the same way.

@jiveraptor: A digipak can only scuff if you don't know how to remove the disc from the packaging properly. Pull the disc out label side down against the surface.

Hating vinyl and hating the loudness war are not mutually exclusive, you can feel perfectly free to dislike both. I certainly do.

I'll take a little hiss and pops over disgusting digital compression and loudness war nonsense any day. Happy physical limitations on records prevent that garbage to the extent that it exists today.

And you cared enough to post, backslashh. If it's that much a waste of time, then clearly you have issues managing yours.

If by "technically" you mean "in hipsters' dreams", you're absolutely spot on.

technically, vinyls sound much better than cd's or mp3 files but, they're a pain in the ass to take care of and, not to mention that they're more expensive than cd's so, i think cd's are probably the best alternative.

"I love all these audiophile idiots who set up music blogs, upload shit that they say is at 320kbps, and then it turns out that they just recorded their fucking record player and it sounds all shitty with echoes and surface noise. Vinyl is for fucking idiots." Lo-fi ftw! And you're forgetting another cool feature of records: changing speed. Like Tom G. Warrior did with his Venom records by playing them at 33RPM instead of 45 and thus, getting inspired to start Hellhammer. Yeah, you've got programs to do that kind of stuff, but it ain't as convenient when you got thousands of CDs and MP3 albums. And you really gonna bother when you got thousands of them?
