  rpcutts, you have it all wrong. I didn't join this group because people might assume I listen to the music I do because I enjoy the game. I joined this group because I liked that song before you heard it on Guitar Hero.

  I don't have that many songs that I just heard from RB/GH. The main ones are just the Harmonix bands. I also don't like to mention I first heard a song and or talk about it being in GH/RB when I talk about songs. The people who flip out that it was in GH/RB get REALLY annoying. I am a victim of "I first heard it from Guitar Hero!" and also not. <_>

  What WiffleBallTony wrote about the game educating it's players is valid but regardless of this this group is pretty stupid. Are you worried people wont realise how cool you are because now more people like rock music? That people might assume you listen to the music you do because you enjoy the game? That they wont know that you're a 'real fan' that was listening too the music before the cool kids were all doing it? Get over yourselves, no one else cares how long you've been listening too a bed except you. The sooner you realise that the better.

  Do you guys realize that a lot of good can come out of this game? Sure, there is that large group of idiots who only add the Guitar Hero/Rock Band songs to their iPods and live their life completely ignorant to the rest of the band's catalog, but that isn't the entire population of people playing this game. Those people are idiots. Ridicule them, not the game. People like me and many others that I know have actually had their entire musical tastes changed by this game. I found bands like Iron Maiden, The Sword, and Metallica because of playing it. Because of that, I got really into the bands (hell, I saw Maiden twice this year) and then found other similar bands. Because of The Sword, I am now a huge doom metal fan (Electric Wizard, YOB, Sleep, etc.), because of Iron Maiden, I love N.W.O.B.H.M. (Judas Priest, Venom, Saxon, etc.), and because of Metallica, I love thrash (Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, etc.). There are many idiots, but there are also many people who use this game for good.

  i really really like the game and all. but i will put a song on for me friends to hear and ill say, "oh, this is a great song." and then someone will say, "OH OH THAT WAS ON GUITAR HERO!"
