Only losers have greatest hits collections for artists. Get the discography and make your own 'best of' playlist if your too much of a puss to listen to complete albums.

If i ripped or downloaded a best of album, i always look up the tracks on discogs and change the album & year tags to the album it was originaly from. I have automatic playlists (50s, 60s, 70s, 80,s 90s) which otherwise would otherwise be messed up, cause the releasedates from the best off albums could be like 50 years later. Would ruin my library :-)

I don't think anyone is making a fool of themselves. Its just a statement about the singles market vs people that listen to full albums.

I don't mind "best of albums". As a matter of fact, they tend to broaden the reach for certain musicians to reach new fans of younger generations. Although, I must say, they typically do not put the "best" on the "best of albums". So it's a vicious circle where you have - not - the best that group has to offer being placed on an album claiming said claims, the payoff being people actually search for and/or stumble upon what could actually be considered the best that group has to offer, of course assuming they look beyond that "best of album".
