    religion

I'm stealing this topic from another forum on another site (http://brainmeta.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8964)...The idea was this: We live, exist, and die then it's all over. Religion makes it so that it isn't really all over. In this sense, religion acts as a psychological coping mechanism by giving life purpose and meaning. (Not my words but someone else's.)

    Any opinions?

Yes. I think this is the reason a lot of people that have not been raised into a religion pick one up at some point during their life. It gives them something to focus on. Self-delusion that keeps people from thinking about their insignificance.
