Emo is this awesome genre from the 80's. Exploded all over US in the 90's. Then the era ended.

If you don't like emo, alright. Don't tell us, it's not like we actually care.

There are 3 waves of emo:
1st wave (80'): bands similar to punk rock and hardcore punk, but more emotionally charged.
Examples: Rites of Spring, Hüsker Dü, Moss Icon, Embrance, Minor Threat, Hoover, The Nation of Ulysses, One Last Wish, Beefeater, Gray Matter, Fire Party.
2nd wave (early 90'): influenced by 1st wave, similar to indie rock and post-punk.
Examples: Mineral, American Football, Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas Is the Reason, The Promise Ring, Cap'n Jazz, Cursive, The Get Up Kids.
3rd wave (late 90'-present)(?): Media such as MySpace, MTV and Kerrang! created it, those bands have almost nothing in common with real emo, it's only their inspiration.

Some facts:
◙ Emo is a music genre, you can't be in any way a music genre!
◙ Romanticism is not an emo age. Werther, Romeo&Juliet, Kurt Cobain were not emo!
◙ Since 1901, when King C. Gillette invented safety razors, people can cut easily themselves, it's not only emo domain.
◙ Emo people were, are and will be, they will grant only new names.

So... guestions to all emo haters: do you really know what you hate?

    one more thing, I never head that an style could die, it´s not in the media focus, on the radios, or it´s not something hype as once.... just that. like if you dont have contact with an old friend, does not mean he´s dead.

    minor threat... emo... HAHAHAHA (2) also husker du? nation of ulysses??? I think there are some old soft good bands but you cant call a bunch of good bands that are just GREAT HARDCORE/PUNK, emo, just trying to make emo sounds better, anyway, maybe is better you try to find decents bands which could fill the emo profile better than some of these... and not use others faking. by the way "emocore" is so much hated as punk was once in 77, so people should stop caring so much about that. if you ask people (skin or a regular guy) about punk 35 years ago they must answer: disgustin same about emocore today. people should stop hating those people they call emo, and not just trying to change the whole idea about what they have in mind about it, so.. stop hating and go to listen your songs!!! soft or hard.... geeks, punks, skins, psychos, whatever... pff
