Easy Songs to play (Share and rate yours)

Share easy songs to play, any music style.
Think it would be cool and handy to add symbols determining the song's difficulty.

Just a couple of examples :
Bob Dylan - Knocking on Heaven's Door *
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven ****

  • A Horse with No Name. If one star is the easiest and five stars the hardest, this song gets 0 stars :).
The Scientist, also very easy, but sounds cool. *
    Hurt *
    Talkin' Bout a Revolution *
Judy and the Dream of Horses *

^^^ all the nirvana ones Meuli-m listed
    in no particular order
    Jane Says
The Ocean- not the solo obviously, but the main riffs are simple and fun to play
Heartbreaker- same as above, and it's great practice for blues scales
    Son of a Gun
Molly's Lips- two chords all the way through!
Aneurysm- a little bit tougher maybe, but still easy
    Polly
Breaking The Girl- capo 4th fret
Blood Sugar Sex Magik- easy once you get comfortable w/ slides (note: this can be played on an acoustic but it sounds pretty weird, and sliding up to the higher frets is a bitch)
    Otherside
    Sympathy For The Devil
Paint It Black- capo 3rd fret
    Hunger Strike

that would have to keep you going for a while!

  • Oooh, I'd like to learn Paint it black :).

  • easy but fun:
Come As You are - Nirvana
    Super Mario Tune
    Beatles - Day tripper
    Misirlou (of Pulp Fiction soundtrack)
    Oasis - Wonderwall

After a few months of practising
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
    Jack Johnson - Banana Pancakes

  • Easy songs?

I didn't see this one up there so far, so how about
    Creep by Radiohead?

Btw every tutorial video on how to play Horse With No Name baffles me, I find the whole upstroke thing on that Dm chord flippin' hard for some reason...

  • I mentioned Creep in the shoutbox. Didn't try it yet.

Dm? The version I know has just the Em and Dadd6add9, whatever that means :).

    I like your flowers.
  • That's the one! That's what I meant, I forgot the name of it so I renamed it lool

Come As You Are by Nirvana is pretty easy =] x

jedediahs - harpoon! greatest beginner song..

  • I looked up The Moth today. I think the C chord is the most complicated one, it's an easy song.

EDIT: I think I got it, it sounds almost decent now :)

Please, don't call Stairway to Heaven an easy song to play. It's way too long and demands way too much patience to learn, at least that's what I think... I always get bored with it and go for something less exhausting.

    Anyway, easy hard rock songs:
Blood Brothers, Iron Maiden *** (Pretty long, but still easy to remeber. Slow melodies and power chords throughout the whole song. First solo is tricky and pretty fast, the second one will be fine if you've played for a few months and know your bending.)
Paranoid, Black Sabbath * (Really easy power chord training for the earliest beginners)

Songs within these genres should generally be avoided
Progressive rock/metal (these will screw you over... Big time)
    Power/melodic metal (Too fast)
    Thrash metal (Too fast... x10)
Some alternative/indie (These can be darn tricky)
Faster classic rock (Can be a bitch)
Most non-contemporary stuff (depends on your goals with guitar playing, of course)

    Generally easy genres:
Rock and roll (3 chords... pentatonic... Woaah)
Pop (Pretty much the same - few chords, simple major key melodies)
Punk (Even harder - 3-4 POWER CHORDS!, can be a bit fast though)
Pop punk (Don't even get me started...)
Indie/alternative (some of it can be too easy...)
Early metal (Hahahaha..... Haha... But don't try Highway Star)
Classic rock/hard rock (Some if it is very easy...)
    Blues (Generally not too challenging)
    Acoustic rhythm guitar (Generally easy)

  • A Forest Intro tab Not too hard, and sounds fucking amazing.

Let's put a smile on that face! - Beauty is a curse on the world.
  • Sparky, very nice, very simple, just needs some practice to sound right.

EDIT: I'm getting the hang of it, my picking skills suck :)

Blitzkrieg Bop and Californication are both easy and could be learned pretty quickly. :)

Anything by Oasis or Travis really.

The new Oasis song shock of the lightening, once youve got your F down.

  • We Only Come Out at Night

3 basic chords is all you need.

Master of Puppets is all downstrokes? I've always played with alternate picking throughout the whole thing, 8ths in 200 BPM seems a little bit too fast for just downstrokes if you're not some kind of monster or something...

And I wouldn't call the song a beginner song. I started to learn it when I had played for about 5 months, and I mastered it about a few weeks later. I've never been so determinded to learn a song. Kickass fun to play though.
