The shout box invitations are working splendidly. I'd say I have at least a 50% success rate getting people to join, and probably 75% getting people to at least visit the group. Since I've had some visitors who didn't join, it could just be that they decided not to, but I'm wondering if they might have clicked the join link without confirming. I didn't get a clear picture from this thread about what to do in that case. Would something like this be appropriate and aesthetically pleasing within the group description?

"After you click the join link, remember to confirm it by clicking "Ok" at the bottom of the page."

I certainly don't want to confuse anyone, so
    1. Is a message like that necessary? and
    2. Does it make sense?

This is no longer an issue, because you immediately get a popup confirmation.

It was an issue on the old site, because the confirmation was on a second page, often hidden unless you scrolled down.

  • Thanks. :-)
And at least I know they're visiting.

  • Now I have a new question.
I created a forum for my group. It only has one thread, but people are replying. Even so, "active discussion" is not appearing on my overview page. I've looked in the "edit details" and "edit permissions" settings, to see if there's anything I need to set differently, and I can find nothing. Do you have any idea why my forum doesn't appear on the front page?

It's probably a sticky thread. For some reason, Last.fm doesn't show those on the front page, no matter how active.

  • You're right. I went back to my group, unstuck the thread, and it appeared on the overview.

So . . . what's the reason to make sticky threads if they won't stay on the front page? That's odd.
    Thanks for the info.

You'll have to as the PTB, because it makes no sense to me. Probably a bug that they never got around to fixing.

As I recall, sticky threads used to always show on the front page, regardless of activity. That would bury "hot" threads. They probably attempted to address that problem, but did so poorly.

  • How do I... merge threads in my group's forum?
