    What pisses you off?

    What pisses you off?
Okay, just tell me what annoys you at the moment. No topic is off limits. We are free to express our feelings in this group. And many topics will be geared towards American politics and viewpoints. That does not mean that is all we can discuss here. Not at all. It can be out anything that bothers you, not something specific.

We all have an open mind and opinions that will differ basically because of our diverse backgrounds. No one likes to see everything they say shot down and turned around or for no one to accept someone elses opinion. It's not all in black and white. That's why I re started the thread. I want us to be able to debate topics that are of concern to everyone that wants to contribute to a discussion. We aren't going to agree always with what is being said. That's fine. That is why we are debating, expressing a current rant, a grief with another person that happened to annoy you today. Anything at all. That is why this thread is here. I think it can come about in a positive way as long as we respect each others opinions. We don't all think a like. We never will. Just keep it civil. That is the only rule I would like to toss out there. No hate speech. Go to the GF discussions If you wish to go that route. We aren't here to trash someone or attack them because their views differ greatly from your own. Explain why it is.

  • hey, what happened to the other thread? u_u

    Can you believe this?

A Democrat (of course) lawmaker in West Virginia is pushing legislation that would make it illegal for a government school to allow a student to eat a cookie during any holiday celebration unless that student brings a permission slip from home. o_O

The endless string of quotes on basically every artist's shoutbox. Where the whole page is just one person's comment copied and pasted over and over and over. Even when it's the most simple opinions, something like "The new single is awesome". And then the page is filled with:

The new single is awesome. [6]
The new single is awesome. [5]
The new single is awesome. [4]
The new single is awesome. [3]
The new single is awesome. [2]

Like you couldn't just say "I agree"?
Just think for yourself, people. Use your own words.

  • @DV1: Yeah, that's annoying (I thought the new single sucked LOL)... which is why I love to step in a break up the string with something totally off the wall :)
It is unfortunate, but there are many who prefer not to think for themselves... does that require effort and originality? or maybe thinking outside the box..OMG o_O

I can't stand it either. It looks like they don't know how to dress themselves. Then you look down at their feet, their shoes are untied as well. why is this cool?

    what pisses me off?

People who make assumptions and say hurtful things about someone based on very little real facts.

It's going to happen. Sometimes they are just checking out what you are listening to and it has nothing to do with you personally. And some of them don't know that 'subbies' can actually see them.

  • People that go out of their way to be an asshole to you no matter what the circumstances are. They always have a snide remark to make and don't seem to realize that their 'tude makes them a person pretty much isolated and un likable. I mean seriously, who wants to be around someone like that?

Couldn' agree with you more on that one.

    what pisses me off?

guys that refer to women as 'bitches.' I guess it's the whole 'macho' thing but seriously, it's about as bad as someone using the word 'cunt' when referring to a girl. Alli does is make any chance of having a civil convo with them null and void. People that talk trash aren't worth my time.

  • since the original thread was deleted I am re posting this basically because in my opinion it should still come about.

It is time to fix Congress

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified. Why? Simple. The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

If everyone forwarded this message to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America would have a copy of this message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

    Congressional Reform Act of 2011

    1. Term Limits.

12 years only, one of the possible options below.

    A. Two Six-year Senate terms
    B. Six Two-year House terms
    C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

    2. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

    3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

    4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

    5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

    8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and go back to work.We voted these people into office not to squander our children’s future, but to improve it.

  • Thanks @hunterdark for that last post. If CRA2011 was put in place, I truly believe it would begin to drastically improve many of the problems we see today concerning big government, corruption, lobbying, ridiculus unions that really serve no purpose anymore.... it would be amazing and rejuvenating to see this happen.

One of the leading factors behind increasing gas prices is the uncertainty in the Middle East over Iran. Just how crazy is Ahmadinejad? This guy believes – it’s part of his particular Islamic faith – that once two-thirds of the world is either destroyed or under Muslim domination this will bring Islamic serenity to the world. He seriously believes that.

But … is he enough of a lunatic to use that nuclear bomb he’s building to wipe Israel off the map? Israeli leaders certainly think so, and they’re on the verge of trying to take out Iran’s nuclear capabilities. And THEN what happens? We know that Iran will blame the United States for complicity in the attack, that’s a given. Will the lunatic then try to close the Strait of Hormuz? If so, then the United States will be compelled to respond militarily. That would draw us into the war.

The point here is that this is a messy situation. You really have to pity the President at a time like this .. decisions have to be made that will have a material affect on the US economy and every individual in this country; a decision that could cost many lives.
Not only do you pity the person burdened with the decisions at this point, you also have to pity our country when considering the fact that we have this particular president in charge making those decisions that will affect the future of our country.
    Scary indeed.

It is funny we, and most of the West, put economic sanctions on Iran and people over here think it is such a wonderful thing because Iran is horrible. Their threats of shutting down the Straights of Hormuz is essentially them imposing the only real sanctions they can on the rest of the world that is sanctioning them. Sounds like we are getting what we are giving. Or if your want to get biblical an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth.

Another odd irony is the same people that are beating the war drums the loudest are also the ones that are complaining the most about the price of gas. If we go to war with them what do you think will happen then? Think of high gas prices like collateral damage here at home, like the damage we do to the people of countries we invade when we bomb the hell of them.

People need to learn to think past their emotions and look at more then the moment they are currently living in. Think thru the things you are promoting and if you promote something learn to deal with the consequences (you know like $5+ dollar gas prices). If you don't like the consequences don't promote the action.

excellent point. maybe you need to switch to politics. LOL

whoa, seriously? yeah, we are doomed if this dude gets re elected.

  • the fact that some people can get away with doing things that anyone else would get in a boat load of trouble for.

  • Deadbeat teachers with tenure... Just going through the motions with no intention of applying themselves to actually teach our youth; meanwhile totally supported and defended by the teachers unions... You know the ones, the fatasses sitting at their desk reading some periodical all hour while the class supposedly works on some outdated handout all hour.
These people can get away with damn near anything and keep their jobs thanks to the totally worthless unions of today. Teachers should be paid based off of their performance and the results of their efforts. This base salary thing is bullshit. I know a teacher who is a National Merit Scholar AND Presidential Excellence Award winner; this individual has positively affected hundreds/thousands of young lives and is loved by students and parents alike because they are challenged and they LEARN. This person is being paid the same as the deadbeat teachers in the same department. Why? It is time to weed out the assholes that are wasting our kid's time and capability.
Public schools have become a way to produce government bowing drones and followers who believe anything they are told as long as it looks or sounds official. History is being changed by omission of the facts in our text books. Topics are being dumbed down.. and for who's benefit? Children know nothing of the real world when they enter it.
Our nation's potential and future are being squandered away by the very people put in office to protect them. Why? Because the dumb masses allow it to happen by voting for the best dog and pony show or the finest illusionist. I cannot fathom how a person can complain about the state of the union while not knowing anything about politics, economics, history and the status of our country (these people can however give you a great recap of last nights American Idol or Miami Ink).

Self-absorption... the only time most people in the US give a shit about anything is when they are inconvenienced or offended by something. Do you do anything for anyone without some kind of compensation? Do you know the meaning of stewardship? Do you have any goals in life in which you are not the focal point? Man I hope so.
