U2 should let people copy their music.
.
This group of U2 fans believe that...
* Modern technology has gotten to the point where music is best distributed free via file sharing.
* The recent release of Ghosts I-IV by Nine Inch Nails is an example of how the music industry will operate in the future. All 36 tracks of Ghosts I-IV were released under a Creative Commons license which allows anyone to copy and distribute them, including through the practice of file sharing.
* U2 needs to win over a new generation of fans by embracing and encouraging free and legal file sharing of all their recordings.
* U2 should release all of their recordings either into the Public Domain or under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike licence.
* U2 should make available all of their recordings free to download at a website in various DRM-free forms (including .mp3 .ogg .flac .wav .aac .m4a .wma .aiff). This would include CD-quality files with high bitrates.
* U2 should make all future recordings available in the same way.
* Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam don't need any more money. If any of them need money, they can make a fortune simply by touring.
* U2's manager, Paul McGuinness, has failed to grasp the opportunities that this new business model offers, and has made it clear that the old model of music corporations telling musicians what to do is the preferred method and that ISPs should co-operate with law enforcement authorities in prosecuting file sharing
