• Justification for Legalization

I'd like to know your opinions on if and why Cannabis and Cannabis related substances should be legalized. What restrictions, if any, should be put on the drug? if legalization occurs, how do you think the drug should be supplied and regulated? and what are your thoughts on the current prohibition?

  • Because putting money and effort into arresting and prosecuting "hardened criminals" that really only want to sit on their couch and order pizza is a very effective use of government.

Doesn't make a difference if it's legal or not, many users are underage and if it's legal it would be for ages 18+ anyway. But since tobacco and alcohol are legal and they're hard drugs, cannabis should be legal.

As it infringes upon basic human rights it should without doubt be legal, especially when it has yet to be proven that it causes any harm whatsoever. No government should even touch cannabis in either its growth/possession/supply or use, and the fact that nearly every one on Earth STILL criminalizes it is beyond belief.

I fucking hate governments so fucking much.

Eh, fact is the large majority of the population still have the mindset that weed is a dangerous substance and believe in the crap that anti drug campaigns feed them. Whilst there seems to be growing acceptance of the fact that it is indeed relatively harmless the social stigma around it remains to some extent, and without breaking this down then there is small chance of it being legalised. A government is only as good as the people behind it, and if there is sufficient demand for marijuana to be legalised (admittedly it would have to be large) then they would go ahead and do it. Not to mention most of the 'side effects' of the drug which are perpetrated by the aforementioned anti drug campaigns apply more to alcohol and nicotine, both of which are far more addicting and detrimental to ones health than marijuana.

Thankfully where I live weed is decriminalised and the laws around it are fairly relaxed; I believe being caught with anything under an ounce results in a small fine or something.

  • Legalizing pot to be sold in stores would be quite complicated. I think that if it were to be legalized a smoker would have to be a set age, and that you would need a license to grow your own personal stash, and a license to sell/distribute.

  • n my country maijuana is decriminalized, you can smoke it on the streets when you're over 18 (except in special non-weedsmoking-zones), you can buy it from age 18, and can grow a few of your own plants. i think this is really a good thing, as i've never even heard of a marijuana-related crime here.

why it should be legalised? so many people enjoy it (i think i read somewhere it's over 10% of the people here), and through the ages, many many people have said 'fuck you' to stigmas and laws, and did it anyway. people will continue smoking pot, and unless some governments want to spend the rest of eternity spending money on them (which is a lose/lose situation, government loses money, pothed goes to jail), they will (hopefully) soon see that it needs to be lagalised, because it actually works better that way. in that sense it IS the same as tobacco and alcohol.

the restriction i would instate would be a 16-year old cap for the weak kinds of weed, 18 for stronger and 20 for the ,even stronger, different kinds of haze. i would let bars sell weed, just like they sell alcohol, sot hat there would be no extra disturbance for anyone.
