Oh man, too much to name! Here are a few of my favorites

Death: C'mon, everyone knows them. Whether its the thrashing brutality of SBG or the technical virtuosity of Human, their music should please just about any devoted death metal fanatic.

Suffocation: The band that redfined death meta. Effigy is regarded as the best brutal death metal album of all time, and rightfully so.

Anata: While not as well known as other bands, these guys show some serious originality. Quality, wank-free tech death is what Anata is all about.

Gorguts: Perhaps some of the most alien and intriguing death metal band of all time. Obscura and The erosion of sanity are mandatory for more adventurous death metal fans.

BTW Deathhead 97, Amon Amarth isnt fit with this topic bc ITS NOT DEATH METAL. Melodic Death its not actaully 100% Death Metal, so its just funny to take this band the first place on the top of your fave bands. The same is Behemoth. lol Its black metal

(New) Behemoth is pure Death Metal, and I don't think you could call Amon Amarth Melodic Death Metal. The old albums probably, but the latest one is kinda something in between. It's not "Melodic Death Metal" but melodic "Death Metal", so to speak.

I share Deathhead97´s opinion...maybe you can say Death Metal with Black Metal influences or conversely.
In my opinion the same counts for Vader and Deicide because of the blackened lyrics, but I thing the genre assignment is not very important as long as the musik sounds good an makes your head banging...
