I wanted to use spotify, but when I click started I get this:
"Spotify free is currently in an invitation-only beta, which means you need to have received an invitation token to access the service"
I gave them my e-mail adress but I still received nothing :( Does anyone knows how long it takes before I get the e-mail, or another (faster) way to use it for free?

Spotify scrobbles tracks to your last.fm account and is the best thing to come out since deodorant. And its free. There are sites which put up invitations every once in a while. This is the way i got my spotify for free. You can also sign up for an invite on their website by giving them your email address, this takes about 3-6 months.

8tracks.com recently added the "scrobbling to Last.fm" feature & it seems Aupeo.com have gone international. :):)

  • I'm waiting for my spotify code as well, does anybody know where I can get it faster?

They're giving free invitation codes everyday, but they run out quickly http://spotify.fleo.se/

  • Last.fm is dead! Long live Libre.fm!

For some of you this is probably old news, already, but for those who don't know.

A group of free software users and developers gathered around the creation of a real alternative to last.fm, scrobbling included, that is really free (both as in free speech and free beer). It is still in an alpha stage of development, so it doesn't have much features for now, but scrobbling and statistics works great already, and they have a better privacy policy than last.fm does.
As it is still alpha, for now works only scrobbling, statistics, profile editing, and listening tracks from Jamendo. But there is a lot of work in progress and the whole thing looks VERY promising.

I think they deserve our support.

    Take a look at http://libre.fm/

    Hi

I tried IMesh for a while ,but didn't like that, "friends" are very in your face, it's more about friends then music.
And Libre .fm is too difficult for me, because my knowledge of computers is to litle..

I can't find anything on the website of Spotify about this. Is this still true?? And does this also aply to the free version?

    never mind....

Sorry, was a bit too early with my comment ... scrobbling to your Last FM account is easy, it's a simple feature within the spotify program...

Last.fm Free Music Player (Google Chrome Extension)

    These are all nice...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_online_music_databases#Full-length_music_streaming_services

    But this is beyond cool:

With Last.fm Free Music Player (Google Chrome Extension), you'll get those Last.fm features back with many improvements:

    https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/bbncpldmanoknoahidbgmkgobgmhnafh

It allows you to play any song on Last.fm with a singe click no matter if you are a subscriber or not.

It streams music, full lenght tracks in high quality. It also allows you to search songs to get them.

All the charts in Last.fm function like a playlist (artist pages, similar artist pages, album pages, user profile pages...)

And of course it scrobbles too!

I tried it, loved it and now I cannot live without it :D

    Enjoy!

For those interested: I've set up a group Sites that scrobble to Last.fm that collects all the free alternatives. It mainly looks for the ones that scrobble but it also has a list of streaming sites or offer free downloads.

The group to find the complete list of free music sites that scrobble to Last.fm
