Blaze Bayley (born Bayley Alexander Cook, 29 May 1963, Birmingham, England) is the lead singer for the heavy metal band Blaze Bayley, which he formed in 1999. The band has released four studio albums and two live albums. With three of them and a live album under the moniker "Blaze". When the band formed its last known line-up the name was changed to ''Blaze Bayley'', with the album The Man Who Would Not Die (2008) being its first effort, followed by the supporting live album The Night That Will Not Die (2009). The last album recorded with this line-up was Promise and Terror, which was released in 2010. The band however disbanded in 2011, because of health issues and financial circumstances. Since then Blaze is back with his old mates from Wolfsbane, touring and recorded their comeback album Wolfsbane Saves The World. Furthermore Blaze is also touring as a solo singer using different backing bands in every continent of the world, but he has also started recording the new album ''The King of Metal'' - dedicated to all the metal fans in the world -with his European backing band.
He was also the lead singer of Iron Maiden from 1994 to 1999 on the albums The X Factor and Virtual XI. Maybe you can say that he is the one who actually saved Maiden with The X Factor , because without that album Maiden wouldn't have been as ''progressive'' as they are now. (Do we need more songs like ''Weekend Warrior'' or ''Tailgunner''?).
Blaze Bayley was originally lead vocalist of Tamworth rock band Wolfsbane. When Bruce Dickinson departed Iron Maiden in 1993, Bayley was chosen as his replacement in 1994. After a bad motorcycle accident caused by losing control and clipping his knee on a catseye in the road, which put him out of action for a year, his first album with Maiden was The X Factor, released in 1995. Bayley went on to tour with the band in support of the album. In 1998 – still with Iron Maiden – he recorded the album Virtual XI.
