BlazBlue (ブレイブルー, Bureiburū) (pronounced bleɪz blu) is a two-dimensional arcade fighting game by Arc System Works, the developer behind the Guilty Gear series. The game's name is a portmanteau of "blaze" and "blue," with the "z" sound omitted in the Japanese pronunciation, rendering it similar to the word "brave" in pronunciation, and granting it that additional meaning.

Prior to the events of BlazBlue, humanity was on the verge of extinction from the "Black Beast", a creature of Darkness. The world was saved by six heroes who wielded magic. They helped humanity create "Armagus", a fusion of magic and technology, to defeat the Beast.

After the war, the Novus Orbis Librarium Armagus (the Library or NOL for short) was created to govern the world with the use of Armagus. A great deal of dissent was caused by the Library, partly due to Armagus' use in nearly every facet of society, and the widening socioeconomic gap between those who could and couldn't use Armagus. This dissent would eventually form years later into The Ikaruga Civil War, when the Ikaruga Union openly rebelled against the Library. After the war, the Library imposed a harsher rule on the world, punishing any rebellion against the Library with the death penalty.

In December A.D. 2199, several years after the Ikaruga Civil War, a branch of the Library was utterly destroyed by an SS-class traitor named "Ragna the Bloodedge" also known as the "Grim Reaper", in an attempt to destroy the entire Library. The Novus Orbis Librarium Armagus, hoping to stop him, immediately put the largest bounty ever for anyone who could capture him. Interestingly, Ragna possessed a powerful form of Armagus known as the "Azure Grimoire" (Grimoire of the Blue in Japan), also known as the BlazBlue. This led the Librarium, as well as the Ikaruga Union and other fighters, to hunt Ragna not just for his bounty, but also his grimoire.

it's been news for a while now, but TAITO released a BBCS2 board that runs without NESICA (meaning, it can come out of JP now). I think it was for demo at Anime Matsuri, but no clue if they plan on selling them. They actually have a few already at PZ in Texas, if any of you are around there. Haven't been playing BB in a while, but will def. check out the PSP version coming out in a few days :D

BBCS2 is out in Japan. Trinity DLC won't be coming to consoles until ~ Spring 2011 according to blazblue.jp (probably to improve arcade revenue for a while)

NEW OP for BBCS2! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9c19-lXO1A // Looks like they dropped the Gonzo animation, but it's really good, holy shit. BBCS2 might be arcade only for a while. Mori did confirm a patch/balance release (e.g. bbcs2 changes) a while back I remember, but not sure how complete it will be (can they really put the new OP/mechanics like corner bounds in? maybe they're only updating mechanics?) Anyways, for arcade players, you guys must've heard about the whole Nesica x Live deal by now. Sucks that non-japanese arcades might lose out on BB. My local arcade is getting 4x SSF4AE cabinets, but no orders for BBCSII yet, guess it's not compromisable after all.

@ dude complaining about the package of BBCS: It's for 40 bucks lol, surely Arksys don't have that money to do a lot of pretty shit like Limited edition and stuff. Just like SSFIV by Capcom. At least you got a Tsubaki disc and a nice art inside of the cover. and lol who cares about a manual in a fighting game son. Makoto fucking rocks with that voice and boobs~ SHOOTING STAR.

I guess I should finally complete the story mode before CS hits Europe. Uuh, let's see, Dead Rising 2 is out on September 24th, so that means I've got about six weeks.
